Bukit Lawang - Jungle Trekking - Sumatra

Me and my husband did the 2 day jungle trekking with Ian as a guide. Adi and his team are great! We slept at Adi's sister the day before and after the trekking. Very nice food and clean stay! She is lovely!

The jungle trekking was also great! We saw 9 orangutans! 😍🦧 And a lot of other monkeys, birds and a varaan! Ian is a super guide! He knows much, his English is good, he can cook as the best and makes your trip never to forget! He even sings when you take the jungle taxi back!

Amazing jungle experience! We did a 2days/1night trek with the guide Ian - we really recommend him as a guide - funny, has great experience and took care of us very well. We saw orangutans, gibbons, thomas's leaf monkeys two kinds of macaques. The trekking was tiring but satisfying and we could take a break whenever needed. We swam in the river and spent the night in the hut on a hill, which has everything needed (tasty dinner, breakfast and a toilet). Great atmosphere there. Really worth choosing this local company as your guides! :)

I had such a great time doing the 2 day 1 night trek, we saw lots of wildlife including orangutans. Jojo was a fantastic guide and is very dedicated to conserving the jungle and it’s inhabitants. Would recommend for anyone who wants an authentic experience in Sumatra.

I did the Jungle Trekking Tour with two of my friends. It was very nice. The were very nice and friendly. We stayed the first night in Bukit Lawang at Adi’s home. It was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. At the next day we went to the Jungle with a guide named Ian. He was very friendly and funny. In the jungle we saw a lot of animals (including several Orang Utan one of them was a Alfa male). We had a very good lunch and a lot of fruits. In the afternoon we arrived at the camp. The camp was very nice and we had a very nice view. In the evening Ian cooked dinner for us. It was very good.
At the next day we did tube rafting in the river and came back to bukit Lawang.

We did 2d1n trip and that was an amazing experience and fulfillment of dreams! We saw orangutans, thomas's leaf monkeys, macaques and gibbons. Our guide (Ian) made this excursion very special and he told us very interesting facts and stories from Sumatra. We really recommend him as a guide - has great experience. Also the accomodation was nice on a hilltop with a great view on the jungle.

BEST JUNGLE TREKKING EVER

This is my first time doing trekking in Bukit Lawang
i booked the tour with Adi's team online on the internet
The trekking that I took was a 2 day one night jungle tour,
the path entered is quite challenging so we have to be physically strong enough. We met several wild orangutans met several types of monkeys and also birds.
Very satisfied with this trekking,
next time i will try to do five days Jungle Trekking

We (me and my wife) chose 3 days option (two nights in the jungle). After arrival on the airport in Medan we were welcomed by Adi's co worker, who were just on time and we found him without any problem. He took us to Bukit Lawang by comfortable and air conditioned car, so our journey seemed to last much shorter that it reallly was. Two nights (one before and one after trek) we spent at Adi's english school. There, his sister looked after us and provided delicious food: dinner (which wasn't included in price) and breakfast. There you can also have beer, some snacks and other bevareges. The only thing I could complain were poor conditions in that place. But we were mentally prepared for this and I think that anyone who is going on jungle trek is not expecting luxurious. Next three days we spent in jungle were marvelous! We met a lot of different animal species, we saw great number of orangutans (we were even lucky to meet dominant one) and we slept in amazing jungle hut. Apart of orangutans we saw a lot of differnet macacs, lizards, birds and ants. What is worth to mention is delicious dinners prepared by Adi's wife. It's not big overstatement to say that it was one of the best meals we tasted in Indonesia! During two days, which we spent walking in the jungle, we learnt a lot about jungle's flora and fauna. Adi and his co workers have huge knowledge and they are willing to share with others. After trekking we went back to Bukit Lawanag by pontoon on the river. It was also a great fun! Adi also organised our trip back to Medan airport and it was also high level. So if you are looking for jungle trek trip in Indonesia, don't hesitate and contact with Adi!

My sister and I went on this magical hiking and camping trekking in the jungle of Bukit Lawang. It was one of the best experiences I ever had in my life. The jungle is raw, you can see the monkeys from very close, and we had so much fun with our tour guides Malik and Edi. I can really recommend to book this tour with Adi. All the people are so welcoming and kind. I felt safe and comfortable at all times. They organized everything for us: from pick ups from the airport to the most delicious food. This is one of the local companies in town which i preferred over an international company. I wish I could have stayed longer and I’ll definitely return.

Adi's team is the best I could choose for the Jungle Trek. Airport transfer went smoothly. In the homestay of his sister we were warmly provided with very good food. Our guide chi chi also had a very good sense for the hiding places of the orangutans, Thomas Leaf monkey and others. Especially the tree house where you stay overnight in the jungle is unique! We passed the other camp sides, which are not comparable. Through the elevation you have a unique view into the jungle. I stayed two more nights in Adis-House and was taken there like a family member. Adi really tries to make everything possible when I had to go somewhere or needed anything else, which is definitely not a matter of course. I can only highly recommend the 3-day tour all around and after research so far also say that it is the best value for money you can find.

Amazing Experienced in Bukit Lawang

My boyfriend and I had such an amazing time in the beautiful Bukit Lawang forest which had such diversity in wild life. Adi and his sister are wonderful hosts, very warm and hospitable, did everything possible for us to have an enjoyable stay. Our guides, Adi and har were very knowledgeable and entertaining, took extremely good care of us and provided such delicious fruits and meals. An absolutely memorable experience and I'm excited to revisit once again.

Booked transfers from Medan airport to Bukit and from Bukit to Parapat along with 2 day trek. Adi responded quickly and helpfully to my questions and we made arrangements easily via WhatsApp.
Driver was waiting at KNO airport arrivals and we proceeded directly to guest house in Bukit. Guest house was comfortable, clean and very friendly. Dinner (chicken curry) excellent. Driven next morning to start of trek which was everything I had hoped and more - quite tough walking and good guides. Saw lots of wildlife Inc many orangutans. Overnight accommodation was basic as you would expect with excellent dinner, precooked by ADI's wife. All went smoothly Inc transfer next am to Medan.

Adi and his family are wonderful people. They greeted me like one of their own.
I went on a one day trek with Adi and saw four orang urans and many monkeys.
Then we went down the river on an inner tube raft. It was very refreshing and a lot of fun. While we were waiting for the raft to come up, we had some much needed refreshments - watermelon, ananas, and cucumber.
Adi knows so much about the jungle and shares it with ease.
I enjoyed trekking with Adi very much, and I recommend it to everyone. You will be rewarded with one of the best experiences of your life.

I booked the 2 day jungle trek (first and third night in a guest house) and I can only praise Adi, his family and the whole team in the highest terms. This three-day-experience was in every possible way beyond my expectations. First and third night in the guest house was amazing. And the two day jungle trek was an unforgettable experience. Adi approaches the nature and wildlife with kindness, respect and love. We had the privilege of becoming a silent observer without limitating the personal space of the animals. I highly appreciate that there was no zoo-like feeding or attracting of Orang Utans in any manner. The level of difficulty was individually tailored to our group. Most amazing trip of my life!
We booked our trip prior to arriving in Bukit Lawang, and I was a bit anxious about it since we didn't meet our guide beforehand. The worrying was needless, since Adi and the other guide were lovely! They were able to tell us so much about the animals and nature, and were funny and amazing company aswell. We did the overnight trip and the hut they use is so cool! It's in the middle of nowhere, no other tourists around. We had a great dinner and played some card games and shared stories. And when I woke up and went outside I just sat down and watched some "funky monkeys" play outside. We saw a lot of orangutans on our trek and some other monkeys and animals. Even though for me the trek was really intense physically, it was so worth it!! The second day we went to a waterfall and saw some huge really cool lizards. Adi made our trip so special, I would definitely recommend doing this trip with them!!

I had a wonderful time at Bukit Lawang. Adi was a fantastic guide - very thoughtful and knowledgeable. I went on a one day hike and saw many orangutans. Adi helped with transportation to and from the airport in Medan, as well as hotel accommodations. When you book a trip with Adi, you are also helping to support a local school that he has organized in the village nearby. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience. After deciding to go to Bukit Lawang for a few days, I was looking how to get there from Medan. I found Jungle Trekking Sumatra on the Internet and contacted them for transport from our hotel to Bukit Lawang. Adi responded quickly to my mails. He came together with a driver in a very nice car to pick us up in Medan and brought us to Bukit Lawang. We later also booked our jungle tours with him as he gave us some good offers. Adi knows a lot about the plants, tries, and animals and shows to care about the jungle. He is concerned about the palm oil plantations and is against feeding the orangutans as some of the other guides are doing to give the tourists some nice photo opportunities. During our two days, we saw many orangutans. It is great to see them in the wild. Besides being a guide, Adi also runs a school teaching disadvantaged children English for free. All in all a very good experience in Bukit Lawang and I strongly recommend Adi and Jungle Trekking Sumatra for the tours and transport.

Adi is a very personable guy and knows the jungle like his pocket. We did a 2 day/1 night trek with him and saw 6 orangutans, countless Thomas Leaf and mean monkeys, swam in the river, had the best Indonesian meal of our 6 week stay in his jungle camp, cooked by his wife. We travelled with our 6 year old son, he thinks of the trek as in of the most precious highlights of our sabbatical and so do we. Do not hesitate to travel with Adi, you will not be disappointed, but you will leave with the feeling of having found a new friend! And above all, he is super flexible and can arrange literally everything for your stay in Sumatra.
