Wonderful adventure in the jungle with Thomas Jungle tour. Our guide Dino was really kind and patient, our Danny cooked excellent food. Dino went the extra mile to find orang-outans for us on the second day. We walked 7 hours on the first day, 3,5 hours on the second day. Some families brought their kids as well.
We really recommend the trek, do bring long sleeves for the mosquitoes and the leaches.

Our English speaker guides made our 3 days / 2 night trip unforgettable. Good sense of hospitality, amazing food although we were lost in the nature, monkey expert. This jungle will not have any secret for you anymore. Do not hesitate :)

We booked the 3 day Jungle Trek at Thomas Jungle Tours and it was such a wonderful experience. Our Guide Erwin and also the other guys from the team really made this a once in a lifetime event. We Head two days of trekking while on the last day we relaxed at a nice waterfall followed by tubing back to the village.
On the Trek Erwin and Agill were very passionate about explaining the jungle to us and showing us all of the flora and fauna, so while we trekked one of them always went through side paths to look for monkeys, birds or other things. On the second day we had very impressive encounters with Orang Utans who came really close being very interested in us. However it seemed that Erwin was able to spot them even before they could spot him .
Along the way we were served a lot of good food and fresh Fruits giving us the energy to stay on trek. When arriving at the campsites we were already looking forward to the very delicious freshly cooked dinner being served by the crew.

We spent an amazing time with Thomas and his two guides Aguil and Rain. They showed us around the forest with real passion without forgetting their sense of humor.
We saw orangutans and many other species of monkeys.
Everything was so well organised, from start to finish. The food was also super good.

I would highly recommend Thomas if you want to discover the wonderful Leuser National Park!

Honestly, the best tour I’ve done in the past 4 months of travelling! The guides are absolutely amazing. They were super funny & the knowledge they have in terms of the jungle, the animals & the flora is unbelievable. We had “Rain” and “Arnold” as tour guides. The main reason why you don’t see a lot of advertisement online is because they spend the marketing money on the food you get while trekking : ) …the food actually is SO DELICIOUS : )! At Thomas resort all the guides as well as Thomas (the boss) are really passionate about their job. Book with them, you won’t regret it : )

My wife and I did the 2 day, 1 night tour and it was absolutely fantastic! Our English speaking guide, Ren, was so knowledgeable. He trained under his uncle for almost 10 years to learn about the jungle. He stopped and took the time to explain and teach us about flora and fauna. We saw other companies guides miss many of the animals that our guide was topping to show us. We joked and named Ren “Eagle Eyes.” I have attached a photo of all the animals we saw!

The food was also a highlight. One of the best dinners we have eaten and we have been in Southeast Asia for a whole month. More food than we could ever eat for dinner and it was delicious. We also saw another camps dinner and it was almost sad that they weren’t joining us for our feast.

Thomas Tours are also eco friendly and sustainable to the environment. It is also one of the only tour companies in Bukit Lawang to be locally owned and operated. Many of the others are owned by westerners or people from other countries that hire local guides to make it seem authentic. But the money you spend with other companies does not support the local economy.

We loved every second of our trip and would give it 10/5 stars if we could. We strongly recommend requesting Ren as your guide if you can. He even played Uno with us in the evening! But be careful, Ren does NOT lose at Uno. He won 10/13 games we played. 😂

Couldn't recommend this experience enough, definitely one of the best trips we've done during our time in Asia and a lot of that was down to our trekking guides, Erwin and Tonde. They were both so welcoming and friendly from the very beginning and throughout the whole 2 days they provided gorgeous Indonesia dishes and fruit, alongside a wealth of knowledge about the jungle, it's inhabitants and it's plants. We learnt a lot from them and really enjoyed their company. Even after the tour ended they were really friendly and helped us do some shopping in the nearby towns, no questions asked and for nothing which I really appreciated. Thomas Retreat itself was also amazing with lovely staff members, very well priced rooms and an amazing range of food (especially for us vegetarians!).
I'd say the only downside was that we didn't stay for longer and do a longer trek, the once in a lifetime experience was over too quickly.

We did a two day jungle tour. It was amazing and we enjoyed our time a lot. We saw 9 Orang Utans, so many different monkeys and chameleons. Our guides were really nice and we enjoyed our fruit and lunch breaks. Staying a night in the jungle was very special. Bring enough changing cloths and expect to sweat a lot!

We ve booked the two days Trekking/ one night in the Jungle Tour. We can highly recommend to choose Thomas Jungle Tour as our Trip was just perfekt starting from the Orang-Utans we saw, the Guide we had, the food during the Tour, our Camp for the night and especially the entire Organisation for picking up/dropping of where ever we wanted. In Addition, Thomas is the only Jungle Tour provider who is a 100% local, so that all the money stays in Bukit Lawang.

Erwin was our tour guide. Honestly one of the best experiences of the trip all the tour guides were so friendly and got to see so many animals. They fed us with amazing Indonesian food a fruit and overall just a super fun experience

Thomas is a really friendly guy, speaks perfect English and his tour guides are locals that know all about the wildlife in the jungle!

More imortant is it, that this is one of the companies which offer local tours and they are overrun by big international companies that try to take their local business. Thats why I strongly advise anybody who is thinking about making a jungle tour to choose a local company, because otherwise the local families and economy can't survive!

Atemberaubende Erfahrung!!! Durch unsere einheimischen Jungle-Guides Tondi und Aguil durften wir eine unvergessliche 3-tägige Dschungeltour in kleiner Gruppe erleben. Aufgrund langjähriger Erfahrung erzählten sie uns spannende Dinge über Flora und Fauna und wir hatten die Chance den Tieren des Dschungels unglaublich nah zu begegnen.
Leckeres Essen, Früchtesnacks, Kaffee und Tee gab es reichlich und wir fühlten uns rundum wohl und super aufgehoben! Mit ganz viel Liebe und Mühe bereitete unser Koch Am das Essen zu.
Leider lassen sich immer mehr europäische Unternehmen in Bukit Lawang nieder weshalb man die Einheimischen umso mehr unterstützen sollte !!! :)

Das Jungle Trekking war der Hammer... wir konnten extrem viel über die Tiere Flora und Fauna lernen. Die Guides sind super kompentent und auch immer für einen Spass zu haben (Rain, Arnold, Lilik you are the best). Auch der Küchenchef Rudy hat uns immer überrascht mit einer riesigen super leckeren Auswahl an Essen. Wir haben viele Orang Utans, Gibbons, Thomas Leaf Affen gesehen und viele weitere Jungle Tiere. Ich kann die Tour zu 100% empfehlen und würde keine Sekunde zögern dies nochmal zu tun. Thank you so much for this amazing Trip.

Wir durften drei fantastische Tage im Dschungel von Sumatra verbringen.

Unser Dank gilt Thomas und seinem lokalenTeam, die von der Abholung am Flughafen über freundliche Beratung im Camp und zu guter Letzt natürlich beste Betreuung im Dschungel gesorgt haben.

Wichtig vorab: es handelt sich hier um lokal ansässige Guides und keine große Organisation dahinter. Daher ist der Internetauftritt zwar überschaubar, jedoch hat sich unser positives Bauchgefühl absolut bestätigt und wir können eine klare Empfehlung aussprechen.

Den 3 Tage / 2 Nächte Trip können wir absolut empfehlen, da der dritte Tag sehr relaxed mit Wasserfall und Canyoning zu Ende ging. Die Verpflegung im Dschungel hat unsere Erwartungen bei Weitem übertroffen, man wird regelrecht verköstigt, Highlight sind die frischen Obstteller sowie leckeres lokales Essen, dass vor Ort in den Camps gekocht wird.

Auf unserer Tour durften wir tolle Einblicke in die Natur, die Pflanzenwelt und vor allem die Tierwelt sammeln. Von Thomas Leaf über White Hand Gibbon und Black Gibbon bis hin zu den Königen, den Orang Utans waren viele magische Momente dabei. Dabei haben speziell unsere Guides stets mit großem Respekt und einem respektierenden Abstand den Tieren gegenüber gehandelt. Dies hat uns besonders gut gefallen, andere Guides anderer Veranstalter waren wesentlich rücksichtsloser, haben Pflanzen niedergetreten nur um die "Kunden" noch einen Meter näher an die Lebewesen zu bringen.

Unseren Guide Ran (Ren) können wir zu 100% empfehlen. Selten sind wir einem Menschen begegnet, der ein so breites Wissen zu Flora und Fauna hat und zeitgleich ein derart ruhiges Gemüht mitbringt. Will man mal nur vor sich hin wandern, absolut kein Problem. Will man vertiefte Informationen erhalten, so kann man ihm einfach zuhören. Von Pflanzen mit medinzinischer Wirkung über Termiten, Bienen und vieles mehr, er kennt den Dschungel unglaublich gut.

Alles in allem eine unglaubliche Erfahrung für uns und wir können uns gut vorstellen, in einigen Jahren wieder zurück zu kommen.

Es war ein einmaliges Erlebnis, welches ich allerdings nicht mehr wiederholen würde. Meiner Meinung nach, sollte man im Vorfeld gesagt bekommen, was man für Voraussetzungen für diesen Trek mitbringen soll und was wirklich auf einen zukommt. Ich bin schon relativ fit, und schlank und habe keine körperlichen Einschränkungen, aber das war einfach zu anstrengend und gefährlich. Diese Tour hat nichts mit einer normalen Wanderung durch die Natur zutun, wir sind teilweise auf allen vieren durch den Dschungel gekrabbelt, haben uns auf Pfaden an Wurzeln hochgezogen, oder festgehalten, damit wir nicht abstürzen. Wir waren körperlich am Ende. Die guide’s waren allerdings super, haben uns viele Informationen über Pflanzen und Tiere gegeben, haben uns geholfen wo es nur ging und mitten im Dschungel unfassbar gutes Essen gezaubert. Wir hatten echt richtig viel Spaß mit ihnen. Das Highlight neben den Affen, war das Raftng nach Hause, nachdem man sich 45 min lang an einem Seil den Hang herab hangeln musste, da es keinen richtigen Weg gab und durch den Regen alles matschig und rutschig war. Unfassbar anstrengend!
Was die Zimmer im Camp angeht, die sind ok. Sehr einfach gehalten, wenig Wasserdruck, Steckdosen nur auf Aufenhöhe, schwierig hängend ein Handy zu laden.
Es war eine Erfahrung wert.

Es war eine der intensivsten Erfahrungen unserer Reise. Es wurde sich sehr gut um uns gekümmert. Wir hatten die 3 Tage/2 Nächte Tour und wir haben es geliebt. Man sollte körperlich fit sein und sich auf ordentliches Schwitzen einstellen, aber die Eindrücke bleiben für immer. Danke!
