Monkey Business

Top 3 best experience of my life. Had the 2D3N jungle tour. We were 3 tourists with a guide named Yousep. Insane dude. Felt safe 24/7h. We managed to see 9 orang-outan (mostly female and babies), a huge amount of others monkeys and cool stuff like spiders and reptiles. They take care of the food and lodging, which is pretty ok considering being in the middle of the jungle. Be prepare to wash in the river (it feels fantastic). I give it a 11/10.

Before joining the tour, I had doubts about whether we would be safe in the jungle. But our tour guide Ian and his team were so experienced that we never felt in danger. Moreover, they know the area and the animals in the jungle very well. We saw a total of 8 orangutans on the first day. 2 of them were very close by. They gave us very interesting information during the walk. They showed the rubber tree, the cinnamon tree and the tree that cures malaria.

Our chef Ivan prepared very delicious meals for us. It was our 3rd week in Indonesia and the most delicious meals we ate in Indonesia were the ones we ate at Jungle. Our lunches and fruits were very delicious. We were very surprised to see 4–5 types of full-course meals for dinner. Tea, coffee and snacks were always prepared and served to us at the campsite.

Our campsite was very clean and safe by the river. Our beds were protected with a mosquito net, no insects or flies could enter. Sleeping in nature at night with the sound of rain was like a fairy tale. You should definitely experience it.

At night Ian and Iyo told us their interesting experiences about the island. They asked us logic questions, and we played card games together. 3 full day living at the moment without internet or phone. On the last day, we went down to the village center by rafting among the cool waters of the river.

On the first night, while we were sleeping, they made gift orangutan figures for us with the stones they collected from the river. They were masterpieces. This was definitely a gift we will always remember. We can't thank them enough.

If you want to join trekking in Bukit Lawang, please choose a local busines. There are many European companies working with local tour guides in the region. Monkey business is a 100% local business and they are very professional. If you want to join this tour, I wholeheartedly recommend Ian and his team, do not forget to mention it when making your reservation.

We did a 3 day 2 night jungle trek with monkey business. Great experience. Ian was our guide and couldn't have been better, he shared a lot of interesting information about the local wildlife.

The food was fabulous and the evenings in camp were great fun. We got to see orangutans, Thomas leaf monkey, white and black gibbons, long tailed macaque, pig tailed macaque and even a wild peacock!

Business is locally owned and operated too. Definitely recommend them.

We did the 3D2N tour with monkey business and I highly recommend!! From start to finish the communication with the team was perfect, quick with detailed responses for all your questions and all staff were very friendly. Our tour guide Jerry, his assistant arri and chef ipan were the best! They were all so friendly Jerry made us laugh a lot, but also was very knowledgeable teaching us a lot about the wildlife. As a business they were very ethically and environmentally conscious, not leaving fruits and litter out for the animals to eat like some companies did and not getting too close to the animals. We were able to see lots of wildlife including 8 orangutans, gibbons, macaques, thomas leaf monkeys and a great Argus pheasant. The food on the tour is so tasty and plentiful, you’re never hungry. The hiking is not too hard if you’re relatively fit and there’s plenty of time for water breaks. The accommodation is basic but completely submerged into nature which we loved. Taking a dip in the river at the end of the day is amazing. You should definitely support this excellent local small business if visiting bukit lawang!

Definitely book your tour through Monkey Business! We had such a great time with them and saw lots of orangutans, gibbons and other monkeys too. Communication was faultless from the office. Jerry, Arri and Chef were all super friendly and made us feel right at home. They were really knowledgeable and helpful at every stage of our 3D2N trip. They were also passionate about the national park and wildlife making sure to not leave anything behind (unlike some other tour operators). All in all an amazing experience and would highly recommend supporting this new local company.

Amazing company. Everybody is very friendly and everything is arranged. People are really helpfull and the owner of the company really makes you feel like your family. Andi and Io are the best guides. They are really funny and always happy. They just love the jungle and you notice it in everything. Really recommend this company.

Amazing 3 day 2 night trek (with river rafting) through the jungle. My husband and I saw orangutans, macaques and langurs along with a Sumatran peacock and beautiful flora. The trek is physically challenging, so not for people with heart/lung/joint problems, but worth every penny for those physically capable.

Great service, very friendly and local guides that help with everything for a great price! The jungle trekking was amazing. I also did a tour to the volcanoes and lake toba. If you wish they can offer all inclusive packages with accom, food, and drivers all tailor made to your requests. 10/10 recommend

Ich empfand den Trip als eine wunderschöne Erfahrung. Insgesamt wurde so viel geboten dass der Preis alleine schon top ist.
Wir wurden vom Flughafen abgeholt und mussten ca 4 Stunden fahren.
Dann wurde im Hotel eingecheckt und alles besprochen.
Im Dschungel selbst muss man Manchmal auch viel Glück haben um alles zu sehen, es ist schließlich die Natur und kein Zoo. Der Guide hatte immer ein offenes Auge für alle Tiere und kleine gefahren.
Wir sind so 7-9 Km am Tag gelaufen. Es ging viel bergauf und ab und es wurden oft genug Pausen angeboten mit Zwischenmahlzeiten.
Die Camps sind auch sehr schön am Wasser. Dort könnte man Baden und es wird essen gekocht. Es ist wie eine Oase wo man seine Zeit in der Natur verbringen kann.
Dass essen war wunderbar vielfältig und aus der Natur. Auch der Kaffee am morgen war top.
Ich war zwei Nächte dort. Eine wäre zu kurz gewesen.
Ich bedanke mich an den Guide Andy und dem Koch Ibrahim für die wundervolle Zeit und hoffe in Zukunft auf den 10 Tages Trip.
Danke auch an die Organisation, es war nicht kompliziert und die wünsche wurden berücksichtigt.

Cuidado con la politica de precios, me pideron el doble de dinero por los tours que a otros viajeros y con peores condiciones. La forma que tienen de captar y vender es muy embaucadora.
La noche antes del tour a la jungla nos alojamos en el hotel de la empresa y fue horrible, sucio y el agua del baño olia fatal no pudimos ni lavarnos los dientes alli. No habia mosquitera y nos comieron los mosquitos.
Hicimos un tour por la jungla de 3 dias y dos noches. OJO te dicen que son 3 dias de trekking pero en realidad son dos ya que el tercer dia no se va a la jungla, solo estas en el campamento y luego te llevan en barca al pueblo.
Lo mejor de este sitio son los guias. Son muy buenos haciendo su trabajo, atentos y simpaticos. Vimos muchos orangutanes gracias a ellos y su paciencia. El viaje en barca es divertido.
La comida del tour tambien esta buena y variada.
En el tour duermes en un colchon muy fino y te dan unos sacos de dormir que al menos el nuestro olia muy mal, pedimos cambiarlo y nos dieron una manta pequeña. Al dia siguiente nos volvieron a dar el saco que olia mal. Y ya no dijimos nada por no ser pesados con lo mismo pero no dormimos por frio. En el primer campamento no tienen almohada o algo para la cabeza por lo que es incomodo. Pero bueno, se entiende que en la jungla no tendras todas las comodidades pero sì al menos algo de higiene.
El agua que te dan alli sabe a humo (sobretodo el primer campamento).
En resumen, el trekking està bien (chequeando muy bien los precios y sobretodo si hacen algunos cambios en el tour)
El hotel de ellos no lo recomiendo en absoluto.
Todo esto ya lo comunicamos a la empresa quien apuntò todo y dijo que intentarà mejorar. Lo peor es que con el tema del hotel de la primera noche nos sentimos como turistas de segunda clase y los precios elevados en comparacion con otros viajeros.
Por ultimo mencionar que cerramos la mochila grande antes de dejarla en sus oficinas cuando fuimos al trekking y a la vuelta habia sido abierta. Nosotros teniamos el dinero con nosotros y la documentacion (aunque ellos insistieron en que dejaramos lo importante alli en la oficina) mi recomendacion es que no dejeis nada de valor alli por si acaso.
