Kerényi György Művészeti Iskola

In 1989, they got an independent building, and in 1990 took on the name of folk musicologist György Kerényi, a famous native of Csorna. The number of courses started in 1964 - violin, piano, flute, theory - kept growing. Currently, the school teaches violin, flute, piano, cello, guitar, trumpet, horn, flute, percussion, accordion, singing, theory (solphegio, music literature, preliminary training). In 2003, our school underwent a transformation. 4 member schools were established - Farád, Szil, Rábapordány, Kóny - and the responsibilities expanded, because on August 1, 2003, based on the decision of the representative body, the Csorna Education and Training Center was established, of which the György Kerényi Art School became one of its institutional units. In addition to music, they started vocational and industrial arts training in 2004, and basic theater training in 2005. As of 01.08.2007, due to economic considerations, based on the decision of the municipal representative body, the Csorna Education and Training Center was closed, and the Csorna Primary and Art School, Kindergarten was established. One of the institutional units of the newly established educational institution is the Kerényi György Art School. The Catholic Public Education Center operating in our city stopped their art education from 01.08.2007, some of their students continued their studies in this institution. From 01.01.2013, the Csorna Primary and Elementary Art School is maintained by the Klebelsberg Institutional Maintenance Center and operated by the Csorna City Municipality. From September 1, 2017, the school will once again operate as an independent school under the name György Kerényi Elementary School of Art, under the maintenance and operation of the Sopron Education Center.
