Very well kept in order. A humble and small house in Croatian Zagorje where one of the most popular and beloved politicians of the 20th century was born, Josip Broz Tito. In the front you can see the famous statue made by Antun Augustinčić. Inside the house you can see the antique furniture and the many presents that Tito received during his life.

The original house is still in the same condition as it was. Except in one room there is an exhibition of his uniform, belongings and gifts that he received from guests who were welcomed by him in Kumrovec.

My first visit to Kumrovec. Was surpised that this is not only one house, but whole little village. You can see there how people lived in time when Tito was born.

I like open air museums with old houses and this one is charming. The preserved houses are beautifully and tidily laid out. Each one has some information in Croatian and English. Some of the rooms have figures in them to show how people lived in the past. There are also some crafts people making traditional items around the museum. The houses themselves are lovely to see, including the birthplace of Tito.

Awesome village that was the birthplace of one of the most famous leaders in Europe (and arguably, the world).. Great place to visit, take a stroll and experience the life that once was :)
There are few places to eat and rest, and it's family friendly of course!

Nice memories from the past. It is opened all year, so you can avoid crowds during Tito's birthday 25.5. . The whole village is like an etno museum. People of all ages and republics from former Yugoslavia visits this place. Everybody is honoured by this place. People are wearing outfit from that old time. The old liberation songs are played on accordion and singed by etno music groups.

This museum belongs to a rare list of open-space museums. Except being a museum about Tito it offers insight in how people were living in this part of Croatia around 100 years ago. Big families were living in small houses which required a bit of innovative thinking when it comes to furniture. Even a team from Ikea was interested to see ideas from Kumrovec.
