Frankopan city Novigrad

Renovated, free entrance. Beautiful view from the top. Short stay for history landmark visit, recommended.

It was under renovation when we were there. However, you can walk around to enjoy its exterior and the view from the hill, both of which are wonderful.

Fantastic easy to reach fortress, well restored and kept each time we come and visit... eagle nest in a tower!😊🙏✨ Small parking in front, easy for camper to park too, there should be water source too but was closed...bridge in front over Dobra is fantastic photo point too...my fav fortress in this area if Croatia 😊😁

Big old fortress/castle built by famous Croatian family Frankopan. Spectacular views towards Dobra river valley, Novigrad and old bridge in Novigrad.

Magnificent fortress, it has been renovated. You can climb to the tower and open windows. The view from the tower is beautiful.

This gorgeous castle is being beautifully restored and is worth a visit if you are in the Karlovac area. Be sure to also stop off at the bridge crossing the river on the way.

If you visit this part of the country, or Ozalj for example, this medieval castle is a must see. Enough parking space around it, free admission, well preserved and you can climb in the tower and have a great view. Not many information there, but it's pleasant.

If you're a geocache fan, there's one hidden somewhere at this place if I remember correctly.

I found it accidentally. It suddenly appeared in front of us. Renewed and very beautiful. The door to courtyard was locked. There is drinker there. And the view over the valley is great.

Novigrad is a beautiful medieval castle on the hill above the right bank of Dobra river. It is believed it originates from the 12th century. The first known written data about it is from 15th century. Through the centuries it had been destroyed, rebuilt and upgraded more than once. It had an important role in the defense against the Ottoman Empire. It belonged to different owners, most famous being Frankopan noble family which used it as one of their permanent residencies. Today it is a Croatian cultural heritage site.
I see it as a perfect place to relax in nature, explore history and enjoy a spectacular view from the walls.

Amazing scenery and exceptional strategic location of the fort. It would be nice to have more information about the history.

It's a little of a bummer it's locked but still not too hard to get in very pretty anyway
