Nehaj Fortress

Closed unfortunately when I visited in February, but it has stunning views of Senj and Krk island. So its worth visiting just for that. The castle is in decent shape. Can park at the top.

Nice old fortress located above Senj. The view is amazing. There is a parking lot. In the fortress is a museum which can be accessed for a small fee.

Nicely reconstructed fortress, with great view. Free parking just next to it (around it), though easily reachable on foot from marina. On the ground floor there is also coffee place and restaurant (took pictures of the menu, but did not eat there). Entry to the fortress only paid with cash, in the restaurant possible with card also.

Good place for a short walk, you can park right next to it, i couldn't find the road though. You can see what women and men wore back in the day, some really nice guns, they even have old necklaces, rings, swords ex. The only thing that bothers me is that they made it like restaurant which is kind of not really what's supposed to be. The ice cream is good though.

It is a very nice and educational place, where you can learn about the history of Senj. You can go on top of the fortress and enjoy the view. There is a restaurant and it's not expensive. There are a lot of walking paths around the fortress and one of them leads to the kids playground.

Really nice and well rebuilt castle with a great view at Senj and the Bay Area.
Also the included Museum give a lot and interesting information about the past and the former “pirate” owners of the castle.
It’s worth the €5 per person.

Nice view on city of Senj, and surrounding islands. Place where one can sit and look far into the horizon and wonder.

Great place to visit if you are pasing or staying around Senj. Fortress/museum full of history, stories and with amazing views around. Accessibility by car but You can walk too. Great service on the entrance. A man working the day was very polite and helpful with all the info. Entrance price of 20kn is definitely worth it.

We spent some hours around the fortress in early September 2021.
It definitely offers a lovely view from the hill and a restaurant as well as parking spots right beside Nehaj. We didn't go inside the fortress, because we had our dog with us (usually they're not allowed in such buildings, but we can't say for sure for Nehaj), but walking the paths around the fortress also was time well spent.

The price of the tickets is not expensive, and there is a lot of texts and pictures from history. You can have a really nice walk inside the old building, and the view on the top is just amazing. To climb every floor, you must climb on very old rocky stairs, so people with disadvantages like wheelchairs can't climb up...

Great place to visit and have a lunch at. Really significant historical location for Croatia that is well explained and beautifully presented inside the fortress. A must in my opinion if you are in that region. Of course, the view from the top is amazing and there is a well equipped children playground some 100m from the fortress.

Very-very beautiful fortress! It doesn’t look very big, but there is a lot of space inside it - 3 floors and open space on the roof. There is a restaurant on the first floor and 2 other contain historical exhibition related to castle history. The entrance ticket is not very expensive - 20kn per adult.
The fortress is very clean and cozy. And there is amazing view on Senj. It is worth visiting it on your way. 🏰

Good display of military costumes and weaponry. Much of which had been used in living memory.
3 floors with historical construction on ground. First had military equipment.

Amazing place to see and learn about the ferocious warriors called "Senjski uskoci". Must visit if you are passing through. Inside the fortress is a restaurant and a nicley layed out museum about the history of the fortress witch is absolutely astonishing. On the top of the fortress there is a beautiful wiewpoint.
Ticket is 20kn and it can also be used to enter the museum in Senj.

For me there's nice and calm place. You can admire the beautiful landscapes: the sea with rocky islands, turn around - you see the hills and city. There's a restaurant and museum inside the fortress. The dishes are delicious and in good price,not too expensive.

If you are thinking about visiting Nehaj Castle, I would totally recommend doing it. It costs 20 kuna for adults and is totally worth it. The view from the top is stunning. You can see Senj, the mountains and the sea. It can be pretty windy up there so i recommend takeing a light jacket to your trip. Besides there is a beautiful museum inside with lots of information about the castle and history of it. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did :)
