This was truly an amazing experience. The day we arrived was perfect, there was only a few other people there so we basically had the whole place to ourselves. Being able to explore ancient ruins like that was an unforgettable experience for me, I had chills the entire time. Highly recommend checking out Salona!

Roman remains very near to Split. The public tranport is well connected to the old city and city centre. Nice visit for history lovers.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaw. If you visit Split you must to visit this place, it is a free museum in open air, you can walk between the ruins, touch it, have a perfect adventure. It is very rare to find a site archeologie that you can move free in it 🤩

One of the only Roman ruins still fully accessible by foot. You can walk through all the place. Amazing. There is no ticketing or official entrance. It is like a park.

We loved our visit to the ancient ruined town of Salona today. Such a vast, inspiring site. It wasn’t busy and the entry fee was small compared to the rich archaeological treasures available to see here. There is much more to uncover here and I hope that more of the site is excavated sensitively. A highlight of our trip to this part of Croatia. Don’t miss the amphitheatre which lies nearby.

Well preserved millenia old ruins of the Roman city of Solin/Salona in Croatia/Illyria. Free entrance but avoid too much sun heat in the summer.

The ruins are pretty neat to wander around. Spend some time sitting on the small countryside roads and listen to bees buzzing around the olive bushes. Most of all they're free

This was a real highlight of my trip. Lots of great things to see, you really feel the enormity of time. The size of the place feels like a city. Take the time and get out of Split and expand your perspective.

Historical information spread over a large areal. Was amazing standing in the middle of the amphitheatre!

.. Walk through the archway where the gladiators emerged before the Emperor and 70000 spectators in 305 A. D. --- Well preserved ruins, and basically empty of annoying hordes of tourists. For lovers of hostory.

Very fun experience walking around these ruins. I would recommend exploring this area. Not very busy when I went end of August. Only me and a couple other people walking around.

Amazing antient locality but needs more attention regarding places to sit and take a rest. Also needs toilettes. During the day it is too hot in the summer but by night it is magical. Bring some mosquito repelant!

We accidentally came across this place as it was located right next to our hotel. We thought it was amazing to see so many ruins at once and the staff was also friendly, would definitely recommend coming here!

Extraordinary historic site even if a lot has been destroyed and transported to Italy a long time ago. You have to go to the parking where there is truculum restaurant, don't follow the signs there is work on the road they will lead you to a blind alley. You can do the whole site in one hour, don't buy the map, it's all clear with Google or the free map at the first entrance, you need sports shoes but can do it with sandals if you take care. Do it at tg eend of the afternoon otherwise it's too hot.

Such an underrated Split attraction. I really enjoyed taking the Roman city in and understand the part it played in the area. Take a picnic and allow at least two hours as it’s a big site. I wouldn’t bother with the audio guide as it wasn’t very informative and there are lots of guides online.
