Mausoleum of the Racic family

The monument itself is a mausoleum of a rich family of shipbuilders from Cavtat, while the architectures of it and sculptures are the masterpieces of famous Ivan Mestrovic. It says it was his first commission. There is a quiet cemetery on the spot and a nice view.

Great view! Though it wasn't open. But the outside was stunning!

It’s well worth the walk either up the steps or path from the harbour at Cavtat. The mausoleum is set in a beautiful cemetery with views out over the bay. There is a charge of 20 kuna to see inside this unique building but well worth going in. Amazing carved work on walls and ceilings etc.

Worth the climb the views are stunning. Do pay the entrance fee as the sculptures and ceiling are wonderful. Take the ramp back down thru the pine trees as this is also a lovely peaceful walk.

Really impressive, quiet place to visit.

A beautifully built mausoleum. I have a little bit of a soft spot for this place for some reason. Was scared to go up at midnight. But in the day it is a very tranquil place. Built by Mestrovic for the Racic family, a shipbuilder I believe, to house his family in the afterlife. Stunning piece of work.

Tres beau monument funéraire (mausolée)unique situé dans la jolie petite ville de CAVTAT au bord de la mer. L'entrée est payante (4€) .il faut absolument entrer pour voir toute la décoration, les détails (il y a des informations qui vous expliquent la signification). C'est grandiose. Peu courant. D'en haut on a également une très belle vue dégagée

Au bout d’un escalier qui semble sans fin se trouve ce magnifique cimetière et son mausolée. Cet endroit est reposant et émouvant et la vue est véritablement splendide.

Na kraju dobar odabir!

Dvoumili smo se dali ući unutra, pošto izvana izgleda kao samo još jedna masivna kamena građevina, ali definitivno dobar odabir.

Na ulasku se dobije tablet sa glasovnim pričama o detaljima. Priča o nastanku, povijest, detalji, trud, pozicija, savršena očuvanost čine ovu grobnicu vrlo posebnom i jedinstvenom.

Preporučujem u svakom slučaju.

Treba malo hodati do ovog objekta na brdu i potruditi se popeti ali isplati se vidjeti i isplati se trud , može se napraviti i kružna hiking tura s jako lijepim pogledima na Cavtat i more.

Mauzolej obitelji Racic u Cavtatu - Gospa od Andela prvo je izvedeno arhitektonsko djelo hrvatskog
kipara Ivana Mestrovica (1883. - 1962.). Ovaj izvanredan spoj arhitekture i skulpture izgraden je na
miestu nekadasnje kapele Sv. Roka za cavtatsku brodovlasnicku obiteli Racié.
Gradnia Mauzoleja je trajala od 1920. do 1922. godine.
Mauzolej, izgraden od brackog kamena, osmerokutnog je tlocrta iz njih su osi u obliku križa
izbacene 4 nise: portik na zapadu, oltarni prostor na istoku, te po jedna kapela s juzne i sjeverne
strane. Unutrasnjost je bogato dekorirana, ispunjena reljefima, a prostorom dominira kasetirana
kupola
U sredistu lanterne, nad kupolom, nalazi se zvono s reljefnim prikazom Navjestenja, Oplakivanja i
Uskrsnuca Krista na kojem tece natpis: Saznaj tajnu ljubavi, rijesit ces tajnu smrti i vjerovati da je život vječan.

Schitterend fascinerend Mausoleum met een rijke geschiedenis.
Ik schreef zelfs een thriller waar deze plaats in Cavtat een belangrijke rol in speelde.
Een prachtig uitzicht ,zeker een bezoek waard !! Een pareltje in Cavtat.
Je moet wel veel trappen maken of langs een andere zijde naar boven gaan die zeer steil is.
Maar je wordt beloond voor de moeite.
Voor weinig inkomgeld ook de binnenzijde te bewonderen.

Vrijedi se popeti na vrh brdasca i razgledati ovu ljepotu.

Umetnina iz mladostnega opusa I.Meštrovića si zasluži napor tudi v največji vročini. Tudi samo zaradi tega lahko obiščete ta biser na tamkajšnji obali.Osrednja zgradba na najvišji točki hriba, izklesana iz bračkega kamna in dalmatinskega marmorja, avtoportret s psom v eni izmed niš grobnice, Grand Prix na razstavi v Parizu 1925 leta so drobci zgodovine o tem posvečenju življenja in smrti.
