This was an awesome little town. Tried to walk up the volcano from here but didn’t have enough time. The locals were kind and the views were stunning. Much more indigenous than Antigua. They have a little flea market in the center with veggies and goods. The local outdoor laundry areas were pretty awesome to see. Took an Uber in to town and took a collectivo taxi back to Antigua

Santa Maria de Jesus is a place seldom mentioned or often visited by Tourists that Land in Antigua Guatemala.
Take a van from the Market in Antigua and enjoy the stunning views as the van winds up the hillsides to reach the Village.

We often took guests from Antigua to this village and all enjoyed the ride and wondering the streets and seeing more local Guatemala History.

El parque central de mi ciudad es muy visitado, recientemente estuvieron por aquí los Buddy bears. Siempre hay algo para entretenerse.

el parque es pequeño, entren a la iglesia... es una visita obligada, el mercado central cuenta con 2 módulos, en uno están los servicios sanitarios y en el segundo está la mayor parte de los locales con productos... no se olviden de disfrutar del volcán...

Village in Guatemala

San Juan del Obispo is a small village in Guatemala. It is located in the department of Sacatepéquez, close to the departmental capital, Antigua Guatemala. The village is famous for holding one of the first Catholic churches in Guatemala. Francisco Marroquín, the first bishop of Guatemala, resided in San Juan del Obispo. The church was restored in 1948 by José Luis Álvarez. source
