Modern, clean airport with very friendly and helpful staff. The lounge serves nice coffee and a small variety of food, but you first need to walk a bit to find the lounges.

Stuck in an hour vehicle traffic from the Airport Round-about to the Terminal 3 Arrival section this evening. I will caution everyone to get there an hour before u get late....

A nice, efficient modern airport with friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean washrooms, too.
The espresso at the stand near Gate 3 in Terminal 2 is impressively good.
The whole experience was easy peasy.

The newly constructed and commissioned terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport, Ghana is so beautiful and modern. It was exquisitely finished and well arranged to suit passengers needs. It has modern airport designs, facilities and equipment. It is neat and well organized. The staff, from ticketing to border control are very polite and well structured. There are available seats for passengers use, neat and tidy rest room facilities and well illuminated environment all through. The car park is very well organized and the cab drivers have prepared list with destinations and fixed prices for fair treatment to all. When you get to the Kotoka International Airport, you can indeed say AKWAABA!

It's a beautiful airport with quite elaborate facilities. The check-in counters are 56! This means fifty-six passengers can be proccesed at the same time. The same is true with passport control, which is about 30 immigration points. Quite impressive.
There is a duty-free store, retail outlets, and food courts where travellers can buy gifts and souvenirs and grab something to bite.
The boarding gates are equally extensive, numbering about 10. The staff are warm and professional and always willing to help. The airport has free WiFi.
The washrooms are very very neat.
Kotoka International Airport is a pride to the African nation.

In 2019, the airport served a record 3 million passengers, although this reduced to 1.2 million in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, before rebounding to 2.8 million by 2022.[1] It presently serves as a hub for domestic and regional operator Africa World Airlines, and a base for domestic operator Passion Air.

The airport consists of two passenger terminals, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Terminal 2 serves only domestic flights, while Terminal 3 serves regional, international and long-haul operators.[5] Terminal 1 is presently no longer in use, but will be redeveloped into an FBO.[6] Terminal 3 has the capacity for large aircraft such as the Airbus A380.[7]

The airport has been recognised as the "Best Airport in Africa" (2-5 Million pax per annum) for 2019, 2020 and 2021 by Airports Council International.

Our History

Kotoka International Airport (KIA), was originally a military airport used by the British Royal Air Force during World War II in 1946. The facility was handed over to civilian authority after a successful pull-out by the military. In response to globalization and the growing demand for air travel at the time, a development project was launched to reconfigure the structure into a terminal building in 1956.

Accessibility

The airport occupies 1610 acres (651 hectares) within the city of Accra, and is about 10 kilometres from the City Centre. The reference point co-ordinates are 05° 35’ 47” North Latitude by 000° 10’ 12” West longitude. Elevation is 63.5m (205 ft). K.I.A’s central location in the world, (on the Greenwich Meridian and close to the Equator) makes it easily accessible from any part of the world.

I had a long struggle between giving it four or five star. The airport is good. The staff are relatively great, the systems are kinda working well. I hope that would continue for long. Can get a little rowdy at peak periods, but way better than Lagos airport. The Airport is not much of a hassle.

KIA is the main airport in Ghana. It's about 16.5 miles away from you. It's a popular airport for both domestic and international travel.

The Terminal 3 seemed a lot quiet today and I liked it... wasn't populated and the facelift looks really nice... The protocol too. Great job to the systems management

Beautiful, neat, modern and well managed. This is an international grade Airport. I'm so impressed by the level of orderliness, the professionalism of the staff and how functional this Airport is. You get the same level of treatment and reception available in developed countries all around the world. This is a beautiful development and I hope to see this replicated in other countries in Africa. Awesome stuff.
