Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital also known as (KATH) in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana, is the second-largest hospital in Ghana. The hospital was built in 1954, as the Kumasi Central Hospital. It was later named Komfo Anokye Hospital.

The hospital was converted into a teaching hospital in 1975 affiliated to the medical school of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The hospital is also accredited for postgraduate training by the West African College of Surgeons in surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, otorhinolaryingology, ophthalmology and radiology. The hospital currently has about 1000 beds.
During my stay in kumasi, Ghana, many times i went for patients inquiry. Wonderful hospital, well mannered staff, very few are not caring. They also should understand the real meaning of this noble profession.

I hope that their services are also up to standard. Well done to whoever laid this foundation for the establishment of this nice place. This one of the best medical facility in Ghana located in Kumasi. it has almost all medical sections from cardiology, oncology, radiation, covid-19 treatment center, cancer section, eye, ear and throat, dentary, and many more including a state of the art Accident center and emergency center. treatment of patient in Ghana is either by National Health Insurance or through cash system. the cancer and cardiology center serve other West African countries patient.

cost of treatment and medication is moderate. anyone who wish to access the facility should get to the main out patient department and narrate his condition to be sent to the appropriate ward.
Doctors are highly professional and responsive with good security system. however one need to be extra careful since many people visit the facility.
