St. Peter's Senior High School

St. Peter's Senior High School is an all boys school located in Nkwatia, a suburb of Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The school was established in February 1956, a month before Ghana's independence. This makes the school a month older than it's country.
The school is a catholic institution and was run by the Society of Divine Word(SVD) till government took control of it. The school still holds it Catholic faiths and beliefs as students are required to go for mass everyday of the week and on Sundays.
The school basically offers General Science, General Arts and Business courses. The school is hoping to extend it wings to Visual Arts in the future.

It one of the best school in the Eastern Region of Ghana. If you want a good school for your son then this is the best for Him.

St. Peter’s Senior High School from a humble beginning, has gradually developed to become one of the best Second-Cycle schools in the country today. The school has produced many brilliant scholars and gentlemen who occupy very responsible positions in all fields of human endeavours both within and outside Ghana.
The school’s academic performance over the years has been very good. The performance of the school in the National Science and Maths Quiz organized by Primetime Ltd. and the Ministry of Education has been very remarkable. As the saying goes, “A healthy mind is to be found in a healthy body”, the school therefore has been participating actively and very successfully in sporting activities at the Zonal, Regional and National levels.

1998 – Persco placed second in the National Science & Maths Quiz.
2000 – Persco won the National Science & Maths Quiz trophy the first time.
2002 – Persco took the second position in the National Science & Maths Quiz competition
2004 – Persco placed second in the National Science & Maths Quiz competition.
2005 – Persco won the National Science & Maths Quiz trophy for the second time.
2006 – Persco took the second position in the National Science & Maths Quiz competition.
2018 - Persco won the National Science & Maths Quiz trophy the third time.

‘A’ Level / SSSCE / WASSCE

The school has been obtaining 100% pass in the A’ Level, Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) and recently in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). It is among the first twenty schools on the SSSCE merit table released by the Ministry of Education for 2003, 2004 and 2006.
Over the years the performance of science students in the GCE Ordinary and Advance levels, SSSCE and WASSCE have been excellent. The following buttress this point;
1991 – Master Methudius Tuuli emerged the Best Science Student in Ghana and the overall best Science candidate in West Africa at the GCE Advance level in the old system of education.
1997 – Master Benjamin Abban was also the Best Science and overall Best Science candidate in SSSCE in Ghana.
2008 – Apart from scoring 100% passes, six students obtained Grade A in all 8 subjects entered for WASSCE.
2009 WASSCE – The results for this year was exceptional in the sense that candidates scored 100% passes in all 19 subjects registered for. Out of the 299 candidates presented, 296 of them (99%) qualified for tertiary institutions. 29 of them had aggregate 6.
2012 – Apart from scoring 100% passes, 35 students obtained grade A1 in all 8 subjects entered for WASSCE.

This was the best school in the 2018 National Science and Maths Quiz competition, when all schools lost hope in us, forgetting that we have even already won twice before. Its a great all boys school who are very cool and accommodating and not rowdy. Their girls school is called St. Rose's at Akwatia. Some relevant houses that existed before I left in 2013 were St. Kizito House which was the leading in sports and games from 2010-2013😉, Also we got Foucold house, St. Matins De Porres house, St Augustine house, Claver House, St Charles Luanga House. The first two houses were the new houses whist the last four was the old ones. I think from the date of this review there are new houses now. The school is good in games and they mostly host the ridge competition. Some vital information u need to know is that any Alumni from there is called #Perscoba whilst the association with girls counterparts is called Sperosa😍.

PERSCO. The best SHS in Ghana and one of the best in the whole of Africa and the world at large. It could do more than it does now if the infrastructure is improved. Ayekoo to all individuals helping in one way or the other to build PERSCO and wonderful PERSCOBAs
