Gwollu Slave Defense Wall

This is the remnants of the defense mechanism employed by the Sisala people against the slave raiders of the 18th century.Notable among the notorious raiders Samuri and Baabatu.This is located just at the Chiefs palace in Gwollu and not far away from the Tomb of Dr. Hilla Liman, th only President of the third republic of ghana. Just to mention that Gwollu is a border town,.the border between Ghana and Burkina Faso is les than 1 kilometer from the ancient slave defense wall

This is a remnant of the original wall built in the 19th century to wad off slave traders. It was built under the instructions of the then Gwollu chief. It reminds us of organised resistance to slave trade.

The Gwollu Defence Wall is a place of history which is a good tourist centre for people to visit and see how it was being build.

It's inspiring to stand at where my forefathers stood and fought for the freedom of the Sissala people from slave raiders.
