Au Faisan Doré

A beautiful hotel situated next to a Big-ish river with kingfishers and trouts. They have a restaurant where you can sit outside and order typical French fast-food. The staff is the nicest, most passionate and most welcoming people. Breakfast is inside, and they serve you individually. While there is a buffet with salads and cutlery, they also give you a bowl filled with bread and little sweet tarts, muffins etc. and homemade bread. The pool is nice. Good bang for your buck.
They also have internet.

One of the nicest hotels we stayed in this trip, only sorry we couldn't have stayed longer. We booked it simply because it slotted into our drive up from the south coast midway between Gap and Epinal. It far exceeded expectations, with such a friendly welcome, superb room and great setting overlooking the river. Breakfast was far in excess of what anyone could eat and, like the wine, beer and coffees had the previous night, very reasonably priced. The garden is set around a lovely pool with plenty of loungers and comfortable seating and there is a deck with shade for eating out and drinks. Across the small road overlooking the river are tables & seating for both guests and non-residents. Our room was large, as was the bed, given a unique atmosphere by the classic motorbike in the corner and Steve McQueen poster above it. Two comfortable armchairs, two occasional tables, a high stool and table, vintage lighting and an antique trunk completed the ambience. Everything was spotlessly clean and there is a decent sized secluded car park around the back, next to the garden. I would like particularly to note the concern of the staff when we reported my wife had mislaid her spectacles (later found in our suitcase). They spoke good English & not only searched the dining room but assured us they'd get in touch if the glasses turned up. All in all, a superb hotel in a beautiful setting, just down the hill from an interesting village.

What a pleasant surprise! We stopped over for one night but were pleasantly surprised by this wonderful hotel. Great location, nice staff, and on the day we visited there was a festival, lantern and music parade and fireworks. What a joy! Restaurant seemed very popular too. We ate at the festival, so we didn’t try it. Family room was big and had a very nice and clean bathroom. Our room overlooked the River. Such great view. Would consider staying longer next time.

Wonderful little hotel, restaurant and bar right on the bank of the Ain river. Had parking and most importantly was dog friendly. We used the hotel as a stopover on our trip from England to Turin, but would happily have visited as the main destination.

We ate here in the evening and the staff spoke english (we were embarrassed by our lack of skill in the French language) and the food was excellent, and restaurant dog friendly.

Breakfast was equally lovely and huge, with great pastries.

Finally, the staff were all lovely and accommodating of us and the dog throughout our stay. Can't recommend it (and the location it's set in) enough!

We stayed here for one night en route to Italy and wanted to stay longer. The hotel is in a beautifully scenic spot, restaurant dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious and rooms were comfortable and immaculately clean. We’ll stay for longer next time. Don’t miss the route D1084 on leaving- fabulous scenery.

Enjoyed overnight stay at this delightful hotel. In a very picturesque spot by bridge over river the hotel would be ideal for longer stop to explore area. Great restaurant and good breakfast. Rooms were tastefully decorated. Staff were friendly - lovely young lady served us in evening and for breakfast. Only downside was it was in middle of heatwave and only a portable air con machine in room.

Lovely, friendly place. Very patient with my scanty French. Not the most modern of rooms but really charming and good views.

Hotel by the river Ain with modern, individual rooms. Great food at the restaurant. Secluded parking for cars and motorcycles in inner yard.

Super fantastic. We stopped here on our way back to Italy. Courteous staff, good food, cheap price: what else?

Perfect place!

So, wie man sich Frankreich früher vorgestellt hat. Zimmer sehr sauber, Dachbalken in der Decke, Boden etwas schief. Essen wie früher in Frankreich. Es spricht für das Restaurant, dass viele Einheimische an dem Abend dort aßen. Lage am Fluss traumhaft (besonders abends bei gutem Wetter für den Aperitif).

Nous avons déjeuné ce midi Au Faisan Doré , nous étions un groupe de quinze personnes.
Le service a été irréprochable, nous avons rencontré une équipe jeune, dynamique, aimable.
Le repas était excellent et copieux du début à la fin, merci pour le gâteau d'anniversaire.
Je vous conseille vivement de vous y rendre, vous ne le regretterez vraiment pas.

Le cadre du restaurant est très agréable et superbe ! Repas pris au coin du feu de cheminée de la salle du restaurant 🤩 !
La nourriture est très bonne, bcp de saveurs, tout est bien dosé ! Excellent !

Verrassend fijn hotel. Aardige ontvangst, prima kamers. Het (gratis) afgesloten parkeren is ook prettig.
We hebben ook gedineerd en ontbeten in het hotel en dat was echt boven verwachting! Aanrader, ze hebben echt een prima kok! Zeker een plek om te onthouden voor een overnachting richting het zuiden!
