This is an absolutely incredible place. The chateau is beautiful and you are able to tour so many rooms. They have a great audio tour in many languages that is really well done. The gardens are wonderful. You are able to walk for hours if you choose. They do rent golf carts if you want to get around quicker. This is a highly recommended place that is no too far out of Paris.

The audio guide through the hunting lodge adds real flair to the experience. Makes you feel why other similar castles of sorts can't provide more sanitary and easier to hear over-the-ear headphones, AS WELL AS automatic audio as you step into each alcove instead of having you punch in buttons. The audio speaks like a story but I won't spoil it for you.

There are scenes of the kitchens that remind me of the elaborate dark rides in Disneyland. The outer gardens are enormous and you can rent golf carts to get around speedily.

It was a great experience to be out in the French countryside and learn a bit of history without the massive crowds similar to Versailles. Taking a golf buggy around the grounds was a fun way to see everything and take pictures as quickly as you can. Food was very traditional French fare in the restaurant, which was an experience by itself (Andouille sausages, for example).

A must for anyone who wants to experience chateaus without being overwhelmed by the crowds.

Great bit of history. The chateau is more raw than Versailles, which makes it quite interesting l. Being a good drive out of Paris, there are fewer people. Be sure to stay for the light/projection show at dark. We had a great day out.

A very beautiful chateau! I appreciate how the displays in the chateau have English translations as well. The Christmas light show and displays were magnificent! The staffs of the chateau were friendly as well.

Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte offers a fun experience, beautifully merging history with impeccable maintenance. From the moment you step onto the premises, the castle’s grandeur captures you.
The audio tour is particularly enjoyable, offering fun and insightful narratives about the historical figures. It's an engaging way to dive into the castle's past. The interior is a visual treat, with each room meticulously decorated.

The bar/restaurant by the entrance is a gem, serving delicious food that perfectly rounds off the visit. Highly recommend for a day out exploring European history.

The castle is gorgeous. I definitely recommend visiting it on a beautiful day as opposed to a rainy one. Seems like there will be more to do especially in the garden. Be mindful it is Hardly accessible for wheelchairs and you will have to leave strollers at the entrance.

One of the most beautiful castles I visited so far. The audio guide is a must to really enjoy the experience. It is not crowded, so the visit is very comfortable and you can really enjoy it. I suggest to rent a golf car and take a tour of the garden

How there are not more visitors at this chateau is completely beyond me, it is unquestionably superior to so many of the larger chateaus that receive more visitors. It is such a marvel of architecture and the way it compliments the gardens is perfection. The inside of the house is full of history with a good tour.

A walk to the Hercules statue is an absolute must and not too far. The view from the statue down over the chateau is incredible and really gives perspective.

The little kiosk outside does lovely crepes as well!

There is a lot of decor elements in very good condition. The interior light also creats a magic atmosphere of XVIII century. The audio guide is a good accompaniment to the visit and it's not boring at all. However the most impressive part is a kitchen of the chateau.
There is also restaurant and bar zone on the chateau area. Highly recommended to plan your visit for candles night pick nick during summer time.

Excellent audio guide (included) . A forerunner of Versailles (3 Designers).

Experience a day as a princess in the castle, immerse myself in medieval-style costumes at Versailles style castle. However, I discovered that wearing my own clothes looks better.

This castle is not a popular tourist destination, but definitely a hidden gem among locals. We highly recommend coming here for a visit and hope we can get a chance in the future to see the fireworks.

Very pretty, the gardens are exceptional, unfortunately it was very hot during my visit so I didn't have a chance to view all of them. The house has excellent architecture, I would love to visit again.

Beautiful house with a fascinating but sad history. A lot of passion went into planning this house and gardens. We spent an extra 5 euros to go up to the dome where we could look out. I recommend this if you are agile. The spiral staircase to the top is narrow. My mom is 85 and she did it, though. Spectacular views at the top.

This is a fantastic experience as you are immersed in the lives and history of the chatteau through the audio. The gardens are smaller than Versailles, but the chatteau experience is fast better than Versailles. Another bonus is there are far fewer people here so you can enjoy each part.
Another bonus is that you can wear a costume around and take pics of yourself, and this is not paddocks in Versailles.

10 STARS!!! On Saturday nights during the summer months they light up the grounds with 2000 candles and a fireworks display at 11pm. I paid 22 euros a ticket which allows you entrance onto the grounds, entrance into the chateau, plus a free audio tour. The grounds take over an hour to walk. BUT you can rent a golf cart!! We didnt get there in time (7:30pm last rental if available) for that otherwise we would have. We packed a picnic with beach towels and arrived at 9pm by car. There are hardly any places to sit so dont forget that. We took the audio tour which was excellant. It was told in story form narrated by the Viaconte. The chateau rooms were as impressive as Fountainebleau. The fireworks at 11pm were way better then expected. Because they were lit so close by it felt like stars were falling down on you. Amazing night. Check weather n bring a jacket it got cold quickly even though it was a hot 77' day. Watch my video of the fireworks it was a magical night worth the hour drive out there.
