One of the most interesting museums in Finland. The Uusimaa area is full of quirky modern art museums so it’s exciting to visit a history themed one that provides insight into the development of not only railway but also technology and the entire country as a whole. The museum’s premise is large, with many things to see and experience.

Highly recommend to visit. Specially with childrens. Nice exhibition, friendly staff.

Amazing, you must visit

A beautiful collection of old finnish trains, lot of the information is also written in english. I definitely recommend visiting this place if you're a railway fan!

Very nice attraction for train and history enthusiasts. The museum includes tens of trains and engines, the most interesting ones are the restored Russian Imperial cabins. There is a cafe outside in the beautiful yard and a little museum shop inside. Near the cafe there is a little park train making a tour around the yard (check operating times, they are close earlier than the museum). Park train is free for people with museum tickets, others pay 1€. Most of the exhibition can be seen inside so that bad weather does not matter.

Really nice museum with numerous locomotives inside along with railway cars, and automobiles. There is a large building that holds numerous trains and restored cars with platforms for viewing. There is also a portion of a roundhouse with many steam locomotives and you can walk under one of them. A great place for adults and children. We used the Museum Card and paid a few Euros for the children to enter. There is a large parking lot and a museum shop. The grounds feature a number of railway buildings including a station that you can tour.

Great collection of historic trains. Several free entrance days, worth watching out for. Some days in the summer of steam trains running... But many more days a diesel is running.

One of the best museums in Finland.

Awesome place! Old steam locomotives and old carriages together with newer locomotives are on display in covered area, and more carriages outside. Old railway station building with decor of old times and other old buildings related to the railway are in the park of the musem. A gem of the musem (especially for kids:)) is a little "train" that rides everyone on small railway in the musem park.

Great place. I recommend visiting.

Excellent museum, very nicely laid out with information in English (and Russian) for most most exhibits. Good selection of historic steam motive power and rolling stock plus a few diesels and sundry items. Many exhibits housed in the former roundhouse. Pleasant outside park area with exhibitions in former station building, miniature railway and cafe.

History of Finland since 1860 to the present day viewed from the perspective of train industry. Diversity of the museum was a positive surprise. You learn about history of railways and development of trains as well as railway stations and train industry workers in Finland. Local viewpoint how these issues have affected to Hyvinkää is also interesting. This place should be of interest to children, families, train and railway enthusiastics and history students.

Fine collection on trains, especially steam engines. But do go in the summer.

Good way to spend a couple of hours. Kids will love it. If it's dry there is plenty of space for them to run around and a small train to have a ride on (not running every day). If wet there is plenty to see inside, about 10 locos and some very posh carriages.
Would recommend it whatever the weather.
