Absolutely one of the best if not THE best Finnish traditional dishes. Simple but tasty. Good service and friendly staff. Nice and unique narration to the almost 1000 year known history of Särä eating. Heartily recommended! Good for almost any religion, since it's lamb.

Kind of a must have experience when in the area but you have to book ahead, no walk-ins. The lamb that serve is brined in salt water for 4 days and then is prepared for 9 hours (so for the 1pm serving they start at 4am!) in a wooden trough called särä which gives it a sweet and smoky taste. They will serve as much as you can eat and then you can finish with a fruit soup. Also the low alcohol homemade beer is great.

We had lunch in this beautiful restaurant in the middle of the forest. You can go at set times, in our case it was 12pm or 2pm, otherwise you'll need to call them to book another time. The food is only roast lamb with potatoes, served with nonalcoholic beer (a bit sweet, but nice, similar to a stout), and followed by a fruit soup (mainly plums, not too sweet and very digestive). You can have as many courses as you want, until you're full. The staff are very friendly and speak English. And the food is scrumptious. Highly recommended!

You need to reserve in advance, in order to enjoy the incredible delicacy which gets prepared especially for you.
If you have the chance and the time to experience this place, do not skip it.

The food in here is from another planet! It is so soft and juicy and fills you up for hours. The price may seem a little steep, but it is worth every penny, considering the taste and the fact you can eat as much as you possibly can. This place requires a reservation due to the food needing to spend hours in the wooden stove.

Unique, very traditional and extremely tasty place in Finland. It's not much expensive, as main dish - specially cooked mutton, called Särä. is served unlimited. That's why, It will be wise decision to stay hungry 1 or 2 days before visiting the restaurant (but do not concentrate on bread and butter at the beginning, wai for Särä). And you always need to book the table in advance. In my experience, that's on of the most remarkable places.

Authentic regional food, cooked in wooden logs in oven. Beautiful place and great atmosphere. You need to book in advance. And it’s better to go there by car if you’re not living in area nearby.

Just amazing how good it Taste

Gather a group of friends or relatives, reserve your spot in advance, fast at least the day of the reservation. Those are the preparations needed when you are going to eat Särä.
In this place you go in, sit down and they will feed you until you are so full your friends will have to roll you out. There is only one main course, särä. It is lamb and potatoes that have been seasoned and cooked for several hours at least.
As you arrive to the restaurant and take your seat, they will first give you a brief explanation on the history of särä and how to eat it. Whenever you are done with a plate just place your knife and fork on the bread plate and they will bring you a new plate full of särä. It is simple and not even once did we have to wait.
The restaurant staff is extremely nice and we had several nice conversation during our meal.
Oh and the food it self. It is very simple, very well seasoned and extremely well cooked. You are going to love it!

This is a very friendly and nice place. And the Lemin Särä is probably the best piece of lamb I ever had.

Excellent speciality restaurant that has to be experienced By any tourist or a traveller. It has basically one dish, but what a treat it is. Oh and strictly for meat lovers.
