If you believe travel is about having unique experiences, this spot is for you. Jo and Ken are super hosts and are willing to share a wealth of knowledge about the town and surrounding countryside. Based on their recommendations we ended up having an unforgettable experience in a local bar/cafe surrounded by residents having a series of tapas and drinks and watching a scene that could have come straight out of a movie. Staying here is 100% worth it based on the knowledge and enthusiasm of the two of them.

The hotel itself is a historic structure that is perfectly decorated - you can tell someone with a keen eye for design and details has thought carefully about each element. We were privileged to be there for Ken’s birthday and celebrated with an awesome cake and a round of song. It’s not like staying at a corporate hotel or resort - genuine hospitality in a small town full of real working class people. All and all a most excellent stay!

Thank you Jo and Ken for making our stay at the Almohalla 51 such a lovely one. You made us feel extremely welcome and were always available to give advice on site seeing and walking trails around the lovely town or Archidona. The Almohalla 51is a beautiful traditional property which has been further enhanced by Jo's love of ceramic making and also her love of cooking whereby an evening meal is highly recommended.

We visited southern Spain last September, and had the pleasure of staying at Almohalla 51 and being hosted by the most pleasant hosts, Jo and Ken. We had Jo prepare us a dinner for two of Paella which was absolutely delicious. It was big enough for 4 but the two of us ate all of it. Ken was an excellent bar tender and waiter. Both Jo and Ken were delightful to chat with and Ken organized a local guide for some nearby rock climbing on a Via Ferrata. The atmosphere of their hidden gem of a Boutique Hotel attracted similar minded travellers who were also engaging and interesting to talk with. We would certainly be repeat visitors if we were in the area.

The most delightful place to stay! Comfortable rooms, delicious food, expertly mixed cocktails, great location, friendly and helpful hosts. Could not recommend enough. We spent five nights here and would happily have stayed on. The town is small but has plenty of restaurant options, and then there's always Jo's home cooking (to die for!). It's a lovely spot to wander around and have a drink or go for a longer walk; the route up the hill behind the hotel is well worth the effort. The rooms were all lovely and we appreciated the care taken to make sure we had the right room for us. Plenty of places to explore within a drive of an hour or so. Sunny terrace to relax on, log burner when that gets chilly. We felt like we were staying with friends by the end of the visit. (Friends that serve you attentively and don't expect you to wash up!)
We will definitely be back... As soon as possible 😉

This is such a perfect place to stay. Located between Malaga, Cordoba and Granada you have plenty of options discovering the beauty of Andalucia. Archidona itself is a cute small town. The bed and breakfast is luxurious yet cozy. The breakfast on the terrace is a perfect start of the day, while watching the sunset with a cocktail at the rooftop a perfect ending. The rooms are beautiful, but there's also plenty of space around the place to read, play games, or just relax. Ken and Joanna are the perfect hosts, they make you feel at home immediately.

Lovely, helpful hosts who were happy to suggest things to do in the area and pre-book restaurants. Breakfast was different every day, and they were even happy to make us a takeaway lunch when we had an early trip planned. It's a great base to see the region from; we moved between several different accommodations, but we should have just done everything from here as many of the main tourist sites are within an hour's drive.

Our stay at Almohalla51, was such a treat during our 700km hike around Andalusia. We decided to stay at Almohalla51 for 3 days, and that was one of our better decisions.
Having hiked 300km+ we have at this point stayed at many places (almost a new one for every day in 14 days). Almohalla51 stands out, it has everything.. Jo and Ken were so warm, welcoming, the decor of this place is absolutely amazing and even the beds were perfect. Both the outdoors and the inside of Almohalla51 is lovely. And the food… we were blown away by Jo’s cooking and surprised that there was a quite extensive menu to chose from for evening meals.
Almohalla51 was little gem on our way, it felt like 3 days of luxury. We even had the pleasure of having a massage which was thoughtfully suggested to us by Jo and she organized it.
We were 2 happy hikers leaving Almohalla51

Almohalla 51 is one of those gems that are hard to find! This beautiful hotel is nestled in the quiet streets of Archidona where you’ll find peace, gorgeous weather and incredible food. I stayed at this beautiful boutique hotel at the beginning of March and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Jo and Ken are the perfect hosts providing not only delicious breakfasts ( homemade granola, yummy!!) but they went above and beyond to make sure my stay there was perfect. Their attention to detail is second to none!! Their restaurant suggestions were just perfect as was their day trips advice. My room was a very beautiful, quaint and full of character space where I could relax at the end of the day. The outside terrace with the beautiful pool is a perfect place to relax in and watch the sun go down.
Thank you Jo and Ken for a truly unforgettable stay. I’ll definitely be back!

What a gem! We stayed at Almohalla 51 for five nights over October half term and were delighted to have found this special little spot in Andalucia.
Jo and Ken were the perfect hosts; welcoming, friendly and informative. They are passionate about the area and happily shared lots of information about places to visit and restaurants to try out. The breakfasts were exceptional and felt like a decadent start to each day.
Almohalla 51 is beautifully decorated, with lots of tranquil areas to hang out in. This was a real treat after busy days out exploring.
It was lovely to wander around the friendly town of Archidona and a real bonus to be within a 3-minute walk of various restaurants.
There is so much more to explore in this part of Andalucia, we will definitely be back. Thank you! Vicky, Jamie and Hattie.

Almohalla 51 is a very lovely boutique hotel with lots of lovely details. It is a little guesthouse where u feel like at home. Jo end Ken are lovely and very helpful. They make your wishes possible. The breakfast (included) and dinner (if u order in advance, a la carte) taste delishes. Glutenfree and lactosefree is possible. The food is served in selfmade pottery, what i really liked. White table with some flowers, perfect for a romantic dinner. The quite pool area is perfect to have a little time out or having a drink by the pool. Ken definitly knows how to mix good drinks. So I would say if u are looking for a special time out, love little details and like to hike, to hang around, go for a walk and enjoy a wonderful place to stay, almohalla 51 is the place to stay!

Bike-friendly boutique hotel to die for! Two friends and I cycled from Malaga to Archidona. We originally planned on staying just one night but 10 minutes after arriving we extended it to 2 nights. The place is absolutely adorable and Jo and Ken are the perfect hosts. They were very accomodating with storing our bikes and made reservations in local restaurants for us each night. Ken got each evening off to a great start with his amazing 'cocktails of the day" served on the sunny poolside terrace. The choice of 3 fresh-cooked breakfasts is plentiful and so delicious. Jo even sent us off with a packed lunch on our last day. All in all, a super nice getaway in a corner of paradise. Highly recommend! Thank you Jo and Ken!

Absolutely brilliant place.
So beautiful and well-kept, designed with coziness and comfort in mind. Jo and Ken, the owners, will make you feel totally at home. I spent 5 days at their place as a solo traveller and couldnt have had a better experience. You will get lots of information and tips on what to do, which cafes and restaurants to go to, and Jo and Ken are also happy to take you on small local activities. Plus, Archidona is a really laid-back, beautiful, walkable town, friendly locals, beautiful surroundings also for some hiking. I haven't seen colours like those in and around Archidona in a long time (the shades of blue of the mountains...). All in all, if you're looking to get absorbed in a beautiful little village and take in Spain from this laid-back perspective, this is for you. Also, from what I've heard (but I didnt do those things) basically all the larger towns around Archidona (Sevilla, Granada, Malaga etc) are amazing for day trips, so you could also visit Almohalla51 and use it as a "center point" for visiting the cities and sights of Andalusia.
Couldn't recommend this more!!

The Almohalla 51 boutique hotel is situated at a peaceful location in town close to restaurants and bars. We adored the rustic, but modern hotel rooms. Breakfast was imaginative and well presented. Hosts Ken and Jo made us feel so welcome.

A great boutique hotel in a white village about 40 minutes from Malaga. Small, personal, fantastic breakfast, and Myles and David were very welcoming and great hosts, helping to make the stay perfect. Fully recommend & would suggest going out of your way to stay there.

Have just spent 4 nights at Almoholla 51with a group of girlfriends, who only get to see each other every so often, all looking to get away for a quick reunion "break in the sun." The Spanish weather let us down abominably, but otherwise we had an amazing time, due to our hosts' outstanding hospitality. Myles and David have created a lovely space, which feels like home from home (if your home happens to be beautifully comfortable tasteful fusion of modern and ethnic, with an abundance of interesting art and fabrics.) We were lucky enough to have the whole space to ourselves and they were extremely tolerant of our shrieking and laughing at various times of the day and night. Much of what we had planned to do was cancelled due to the poor weather, and they were brilliant at helping us come up with alternative plans, providing us with maps and advice every day. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and made to order and they cooked us a first class supper one night as an alternative to going out to eat. The house was beautifully clean, with everything serviced daily, and the outside area would clearly have been an idyllic place to relax and eat if the conditions hadn't been diluvian. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, and cannot wait to go back.

Really civilised place to stay in this lovely Andalucian hilltop village within easy reach of all the local restaurants and day-trip attractions such as the Cathedral in Cordoba and the Picasso museum in Malaga.... when you are not just hanging out by the pool or trekking in the really spectacular gorges, lakes and mountain terrain. We were extremely unlucky to bring the Irish weather to Malaga for the duration of a 4 day visit, but I imagine we would not have moved far from Almohalla had the sun shone. Hosts Myles and David are incredibly relaxed but organised, and while this is an intimate space, privacy and friendship come in exactly the right balance. You can understand why they have assimilated so well with their Spanish neighbours. A holiday here feels like a proper escape with authentic ambience, Spanish style, and delicious local ingredients in breakfasts and so on. Definitely want to go back. Thank you Myles and David.

This is a great little 6 room thoughtfully and lovingly restored spanish town house now a small hotel. It has a small plunge pool on the terrace to read your book by and have a beer from the honesty bar.Quiet and relaxing with unobtrusive service from the guys who own it.
The village has about a dozen bars /restaurants that open according to day, season or mood but you will always find some gem.you pretty much can't find bad food or wine and really inexpensive.
So if you fancy just being part os an Andalusian village for a break this is your place, once relaxed it is perfectly placed for touring to Cordoba, Servile or Granada. For me just a small fino por vavour

We had a wonderful time staying at both Almohalla 39 and 51. The flat in Malaga was comfortable and provided everything we needed. La Trinidad is an upcoming area with some lovely cafes and restaurants and it’s only about 10 minutes walk to the old town and 20 minutes to the beach. We loved the combination of exploring the city as well as the more rural areas during our five day stay in Archidona. Jo and Ken were fantastic hosts who made us feel so welcome, gave us excellent tips regarding the area, organised special excursions and recommended great restaurants. The hotel atmosphere is very homely with attention paid to every detail. Our room was very cosy with an excellent shower in the ensuite bathroom which you enter through a set of double doors, which felt very special. We always looked forward to breakfast. Jo’s homemade granola with yoghurt and fresh fruit was delicious, followed by a very tasty savoury or sweet choice. Complimentary hot drinks, cake and biscuits are also available, so you don’t go hungry before heading out for your evening meal. I very much enjoyed relaxing by the pool and was delighted to be able to witness the most extraordinary sunset. A wonderful place for a relaxing holiday with many exciting daytrips on offer if you feel like it and great restaurants in close walking distance, soaking in the lokal atmosphere of Archidona. Can thoroughly recommend!
