Castillo de la Estrella, Teba

Beautiful castle with nice views around. There was some construction equipment around the area but it didn't hinder the visit.

We arrived when the museum was not working, which meant that we couldn't drive up to the castle. You'll be able to find parking on the street and walk up to the castle on foot. It's more fun like that anyways :)

Cool small castle with cool views from the top of the hill. If you have a lot of time, its very good place to visit and take some photos. There is a museum inside as well, but I havent visited it.

Once a huge castle, only the keep remains intact. There are plenty of stone bits to see the extent of the castle. The Keep is the museum. In the basement is a video on loop telling you about the history of the area and the Castle.
The upper two floors continue with more information. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. This was the frontline for the Holy Wars fought in Spain during medieval times.
Also the story of how the embalmed heart of Robert the Bruce came to be passing through here on its way to the Holy land (it didn’t make it as Douglas, the bearer, was killed in a skirmish nearby).

Lovely place to visit up in the hills above Málaga. Twinned with Melrose, it has historical connections with Scotland. Takes about an hour in the car from the city centre. Great views.

Very interesting old Moorish ruins. The view is great too.

What a little gem, came across this castle on our way to Malaga from Sevilla, you cannot miss it from the road
It looks like just another ruin from a distance
But inside is a great display of the history of knights, the crusades in the surrounding area all well presented in English and Spanish.
Well worth the 2€ ea.

Great little museum inside the castle detailing its history, with special emphasis on the actions of Sir James Douglas. The views from the castle are also spectacular, given its position atop a hill. Well worth a visit.

Superb. We parked in the village, not realising we could drive up! Glad we had water. The walk up is a steep one. From a few miles out you could tell that this castle was going to be something special. Once up there it most certainly is. From the outside perspective the two best features are the views (extensive in 360 degrees, but best in the direction of El Chorro and the lake) and the amazing circling vultures - that you feel you could almost reach out and touch. Inside it has been tenderly refurbished. Lots of history in words as well as physical depictions of life as it would have been lived during the buildings history. Loved it.

You can drive and park right in the top and the views are amazing. Tour of the castle costs 2 euros per person which is definitely worth it due to the interesting history of the caste.

A solo stay with the castle guide was extremely illuminating. The histories of Spain and Scotland crossed forever by request of a king and the bravery of Knight helping in the medieval battles against moors. It happened here in this castle. A great hero of Scotland died in these fields without asking anything in return opening the road to freedom.

Make a pilgrimage with a Scots man to see the monument in Teba and on to here. Outstanding!

One of my ancestors Sir Robert Logan died here fighting with James "the black" Douglas assisting King Alphonso with his fight against the moors on they're way to the Holy Land with the heart of Robert the Bruce.

A beautiful monument that hasn't been ruined by tourism.

Gratamente sorprendido de toda la historia que reúne este pueblo del interior de Málaga a menos de una hora de la capital en su época griega entre el reino musulmán y castellano.
Esta vez visite el castillo de la Estrella desde el cual se tiene una vista impresionante de la comarca.
El castillo bastante en ruinas pero de interesante visita con algunos paneles informativos sobre la construcción. historia etc. En la torre hay un pequeño museo que completa la vista y la curiosa historia que lo conecta con el primer rey de Escocia Robert Bruce, si el de " Braveheart".
Me alegro ver que siguen los trabajos arqueológicos y que quedan muchas cosas por descubrir.

No dejar de visitar el museo junto al ayuntamiento y tapear en el Bar " La Rubia"
