Parador de Santo Domingo de la Calzada

We really loved this place. The architecture and layout is amazing. The front desk staff was super helpful in making dinner reservations elsewhere as the hotel restaurant was full on a Saturday night. The room was clean and quiet. The camino discount helped us afford the splurge. Would absolutely recommend.

This lovely Parador is in the heart of the pilgrimage route to Santiago. It is adjacent to the Cathedral and accessible through a narrow cobbled street. There is a garage and a parking that you can safely keep your car in once you have navigated your way. The staff are very helpful and make you welcome. The main hall with cafeteria service is majestic. You can also have a choice of small dishes on the square. Book at the reception for dinner to sample local gastronomy and wines. Enjoy!

Brilliant, Parador.. perhaps a little tricky to find, but well worth the hunt. Staff are amazing. Rooms are amazing and the food was fantastic.

Santo Domingo is the only town in Spain with 2 Paradors. This one built in the former Pilgrims Hospital may not look like very shining from outside but inside is stunning, rich like a Museum. Worth it a visit even if it just to enjoy a coffee. Tip: the capuccino is homemade not from a machine.

We stayed here May 20-22, 2019. The location was outstanding! Had a chance to interact with many of the pilgrims using the square as a rest stop and getting their passports stamped at the front desk. In fact, we met a couple doing the Camino de Santiago on their honeymoon so my wife and I bought them lunch and had a delightful discussion as a celebration for them.

As with many Paradors, the building was incredible as was the church next door. Service outstanding. This Parador may seem somewhat out of the way, but in many ways it was a highlight of our trip. I would highly recommend!!

Beautifully restored pilgrims' hospital on the Camino de Santiago. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable rooms, clean and well-appointed. Reasonably good dinner. Cordero asado was tasty. Breakfast a little sub-standard compared to usual Parador fare but perfectly adequate and both restaurant and bar staff were extremely accommodating.

Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Santa Domingo de la Calzada. Hotel is just off the Olaza Major and Cathederal. Lots of restaurants and bars to chose from. Staff were welcoming and helpful - 5* !
