Bonito pueblo situado en la parte meridional de la Alpujarra Granadina. Su nombre puede proceder del arbusto conocido como torvisco muy abundante en la zona y que antiguamente se utilizaba para curar el mal de ojo. En este pueblo hay una de las tradiciones mas curiosas de toda La Alpujarra "el marranillo de San Antón", los vecinos crían de forma comunal durante todo el año a uno o dos cerdos, que anda libre por el pueblo, con un lazo rojo atado al cuello y que es sorteado en la plaza del pueblo al final de las fiestas.

Pueblo bonito, tranquilo y muy pequeño. Con varios bares y varios establecimientos pese a la poca gente que tiene.

Con bastante vigilancia de guardia civil.

El hombre al teléfono trata con un mucho desprecio y se olvidan de los cortijos. Solo miran por el pueblo como si los cortijos no pagarán impuestos. De las peores gestiones y servicios.

Village in Spain

Pampaneira is a village located in the province of Granada, Spain. According to the 2005 census, the village has a population of 355 inhabitants. It is one of three mountain villages of the Barranco de Poqueira in the Alpujarras region. The other two villages, Bubión and Capileira, are located higher in the Poqueira gorge. The Poqueira gorge starts below the mountain peak of Mulhacén, where the river Poqueira rises. There are many opportunities for hiking in the area. Guided walks are arranged by the local tourist offices which also sell mountain hiking equipment. Other companies can plan self-guided treks through the area. The nearest major town is Órgiva. One of the highest all year-round lived-in mountain village in Spain, Trevélez is located nearby in the mountains to the east of the three villages. Accommodation is available in all of the three villages but Capileira has the biggest range of facilities. source
