Dr Mohamed Sayed is one of the most generous people and one of the most unique and intriguing persons probably in Egypt.
For him to actually challenge the norms and build this house is something to be very respectful of.
His house is very rich with vintage and historical items with many more pop culture related items and a huge mural made entirely of post stamps.
His hospitality to people that he doesn't know with beverages of cold hibiscus and a chocolate cake pudding, that's something to be admired.
Definitely recommend as a refreshing stop.

Extraordinary discovery. This museum located in the traditional districts of Edfou is remarkable for three reasons. The first is the building recently constructed in a research and respect of the traditional practices of ancient Egypt, the building is made of mud with interior vaults and exterior domes. This construction alone is worth a visit. In addition, murals depict the history of Islam on the outside and oriental decoration on the inside. Second reason the content. With multiple objects we find all the traditions and tools of the last centuries. The choice of objects is subtle and the variety is impressive. A set of montages with magazines and articles give the key moments and the great influences in the evolution of this country of one hundred million inhabitants. The third and most vivid reason is its owner who is a scholar of the millennial history, is very familiar with the last decades and speaks English fluently. The success of this magical place is based on its quality of heart. Doctor, this man has won the bet to gather all the elements for the one who wants to understand Egypt and its people. Complementary to the visits of the pharaonic places, this place will give you the keys to understand yesterday and today in a visit rich in information and sharing. Do not hesitate to plan a few hours to come back with a complete look at this country with such a deep and complete history. To visit Egypt without visiting this place is to miss a great moment of your life that will remain engraved in your memories. You are visiting history and want to understand the living Egypt? Visit this place and be happy because by reading these lines you know it exists. A man puts all his love, knowledge and skill to explain his country to you with simplicity and relevance. You will come back and will advise it to your friends because it is a rare place that will teach you a lot. Enjoy your visit and do not hesitate to share my enthusiasm. This is my third visit.

I stayed here with my wife a little while back and we had an amazing experience here. The house is impressive and beautifully designed. Mohammed is a very positive, intelligent, and welcoming individual. He showed us around the surrounding Edfu area and educated us on its history. His English was excellent and we really enjoyed his time. His family is also wonderful to be around and the food they provided was delicious! We will never forget Mohammed's incredible hospitality and we are very thankful for this experience!

Absolutely EXTRAORDINARY.

Mohammed is an inspirational, kind, and passionate individual who thankfully allowed us into his beautiful home.

He shared with us that the one thing he had to cross of his bucket list in his lifetime was to build his own mud brick house and he did it exceptionally well.

The fact that he built this house with his own two hands is astonishing. You have to view it for yourself.

We absolutely loved it here. It is so cozy, beautiful, interesting and a stop that you CANNOT miss.

Do yourself a favor and book here!!!! You won’t regret it :)

It was great to visit Hamdi and his family. Outside from their hospitality and warmth we loved their pursuit of their dreams and various talents - Hamdi has studied to be a pharmacist, Egyptologist and mud architect. His wife is an amazing mother and cook while studying autism. Hamdi took our family to his place of inspiration for his house. We loved it !

We had a lovely lunch with far more delicious food than we could eat, but we wanted to eat it all and we tried! The hosts were great and we enjoyed the company and the experience. Highly recommend!

This was a fascinating experience. We arrived to Doctor Mohammed‘s place with recommendation of our friends and we were impressed by the the beautiful house, a little museum and our host’s hospitality.
His wife and daughters are really amazing. We can’t find the words to discribe the local food, which was prepared by his wife. It was the best dinner.
After dinner we listened to Arabic and Nubian music by doctor Mohammed’s friend.
We discussed a lot of interesting topics, doctor Mohammed and his family are well-educated and gifted persons. So, we rightly recommended to stay at this house, we are sure you will have an unbelievable experience :)
Thank you again, the best wishes 🌷

. . . . Mohamed Sayed is definitely a kind, pleasant and cultured man you must meet ! . . . . I did love the house and its history but expending some time with him and having real meaningful conversations about life, culture and art is what I liked the most !

. . . . Met Mohamed in 2017 and had the chance to visit the finished house now in 2022 and hear some interesting stories. . . . . Shukran ! :0)

. . . Thank you once again for all the hospitality let me know if you ever come to Brazil

This is one of the most amazing experiences I've had in Egypt. The building is absolutely beautiful, and the artifacts in the museum are interesting. But that is only the beginning. The owner and his family are exceedingly knowledgeable in a wide variety of topics, and perfect for someone with insatiable curiosity. Do you love structural engineering and physics? See how to build a two story house out of mud. Do you love arts? Both visual arts and musical arts are demonstrated here (I was very fortunate to have someone play the oud, and show different musical traditions and how they come together to make the current sound). Do you love history? Here is someone who has a passionate knowledge of history. Do you want to experience real life in modern Egypt? Meet a bilingual family. Do you like sports and activities? Take a hiking tour from this museum. Are you interested in understanding Islam and Sufism? It's all about love, and this curator shows great love in everything he does.

Very unique house built of mud bricks. Owner studied 5 years of architecture to learn how to design and build this house of his dreams. He and his family live there today and offer limited number of tours.
