Hike it! You can hike it easily from Alausi by using the Mapsme app and following the trail. Bring water and sun protection plus they will probably have an entry fee next time as the booth is setup but unmanned as of September 2020. Awesome views as you follow the tracks from above. Enjoy!

Excellent for children of all ages! Make sure to get a conductor hat at the nearby market. The stop is a lovey cultural experience. Make sure to take it all in. You will want to be on the right side of the train as you head out of town to get the best views and get the best photos. Make sure to open the windows to avoid reflections in you photos and shoot at a fast shutter speed. Sit in the front or back corner of the cars for the best vantage points. Best time to go is the first excursion. Bring water, sunscreen, camera, and hat. If you arrive the night before get some great photos with the train without many, if any other, people in the photos.

Very beautiful mountain view and very comfortable train ride. The tour guide spoke perfect English. We took the morning train, from 8:00 to 10:30, and visited a museum at the final station, was very interesting. Also if you want, there are some nice shops around the train station, cheap price and very good stuff.

Beutiful scenery, knowledgeable tour guides. Take a hoody or something worm if going early in the morning. But once sun comes out... you wish you had a tank top!.
Website to buy train tickets needs a lot of work. But if you are on time at the front desk of the train station, they'll set you up fairly quick.

In 1899 the construction of a train connection between Guayaquil and Quito started. The construction of the first trajectory is progressing well until the builders encounter a literally and figuratively large problem: the almost vertical rock face of the Nariz del Diablo (the "Devil's Nose"). By constructing a zigzag track, the railway builders are able to overcome 490 meters of altitude at only a short distance. In 1997, stormy weather destroyed large parts of the railway line and its recovery progressed very slowly. The winding route between the stations of Alausi and Sibambe now serves as a tourist attraction. The slow pace, especially on the zigzag route and the magnificent view, make this fantastic ride so attractive. A must see destination!

Absolutely a MUST SEE in Ecuador! This was easily my favorite experience of visiting Ecuador. Go in April or May to see the vegetation at its best. I went with a tour group and we stopped at the Alausi train station to see Nariz del Diablo. In the middle of the ride we stopped at a small building with a cafe and small shop. There were also people dancing in a part of the little building and we ended up joining them. I attached photos and videos of the area. Breathtaking!

The best experience of the most dangerous construction train route in the world. Amazing staff and professional. Incredible views

Not for the faint of heart, this train ride. Zigging and zagging, with shear cliffs at every turn, this is amazing. One train ride you'll never forget. Go on the weekday and get there early.

Great way to see plenty parts of the country that you would not normally be able to. Helps you appreciate the effort required to link cities in Ecuador by rail.

Great hiking from Alausi to Sibambe and returned back to Alausi by train. The train ride is magnificent. The trainstation in Sibambe is touristic but certainly fun to experience.

Devil’s Nose - short train ride with beautiful scenery of Andes Mountains- entertainment is fun. Too steep, so train cuts back and forth on portion sizes f travel. We rented car, drove from Quito to Riobamba- spent night - then to Alausi. Exciting adventures along this 5 hour total drive on Panamericanan Highway. Highly recommend

5 stars for the beautiful panorama all along the way. 1 star because they oblige the people to spend an hour around a restaurant and assist at some fake tourist dances and explenations about how they bake their bread (however it are the same ovens we used and still use all over Europe).

If you are in Ecuador, visit La Nariz del diablo. The train ride to the nose devil has a spectacular view of hills and rivers. It's a 2 and half hour experience. You get to visit the nose and a town there where you have 1 hour of rest and can take pictures, visit the museum and enjoy the view. Worth it. I recommend buying tickets 2 days ahead or earlier.
