Middle of the World City

Was a nice visit. The area offered shopping and food options. They had several nice displays. It was neat to experience being in both hemispheres and taking photos being in both. It was worth the time to stop and see it.

So freaking sick!! This is amazing and so cool and totally worth it. The museum inside i do recommend not only do you go to the top but on your way down is a really nice put together museum of the history of the place. Has lot of information and items. You can do the museum on your own but with a tour guide you can get a lot more information but it is possible to do it alone. A must visit!

What a unique place just outside of Quito. I definitely recommend stopping by if in the area. It's almost a city within a city. Here you have shops and restaurants and the middle of the world monument where you are on 0 latitude. You can go to the top of the monument to get spectacular views.

So I’ll give a slightly more comprehensive review as opposed to just reviewing the monument. The attraction is a giant park that includes many smaller shops and museums not just the middle of the world monument all which can be explored and seen in the pictures. Inside the monument is basically another museum. Tickets are $5 per person and know that the real equator is not here.

This is a very meaningful scenic spot, located on the equator, which is the dividing line between the northern and southern hemispheres. Although the area is small and very sunny, it is worth a visit.

Most visited attraction in Ecuador. Don’t miss it! It’s easy 45min taxi or Uber ride ($25usd approx.) from the JW Marriott. We visited in the weekday - no lines, when we buy tickets they ask for one form of ID (one person in family can show a ID passport or DL).

Grounds and facilities are kept very clean. There is an elevator to go up the tower and many places to take pictures for Latitude 0’0’0’.

The guy who take pictures for $5 gave us two prints and they were fun! Many tourists but not over crowded at all. Fun for all kids and adults. Cafe and small snack cafes were open for coffee and brownies/snacks. Many little gift shops for magnets and souvenirs/t-shirts (all reasonable prices $1-3 for magnets/$8 for t-shirts and caps).

In the Middle of the World City you can spend a whole day with diverse activities, restaurants, unique beverages (cacao, fruits and flowers unique from Ecuador), go on a train around the city, see folklore dances and poems. Overall, get to know the ecuadorian history and culture.

A great little stop over for an hour. The guided tour has some nice basic info about Ecuador and covers the "Middle of the World" topic nicely.

A must see ...great touristique village...spent 2 hours there...nice lunch ! And a performance dancing show as well

A most visit spot in Quito ! Plenty of shops and things to do in this fun park

So much larger than anticipated. Once you get it, there's lots of little shops with reasonable prices and lots of options for food. All the attractions are free inside including the planetarium and tower on the equator

Completely recommended, I had visited many years ago but this time it exceeded my expectations.

Found a surprising amount of fun activities to do at Mitad Del Mundo. There is an admission fee to enter the main center, but the museum contained in the center monument is well worth it. Recommend you also visit the Museo Intiñan next door to actually get to the true GPS confirmed equator.

This is the most popular tourist destination in Ecuador. Expect it to be pretty busy on the weekends especially.
Technically on Google maps the equator 0 latitude is slightly north of this painted line and monument, but you can say that you were in the North and South hemisphere at the same time. They will stamp your passport once you enter the monument. There are plenty of souvenir shops around.
Take your time and taking the photos of the surrounding areas.

Went on a bus tour here and we learned a lot about magnetism on the zeroth latitude. I really like the history tour on an ancient Amazon tribal custom of shrunken heads and how chocolate is made. Highly recommended for any visitor of any age.

It was so beautiful! The views of the Equator and the monument are breathtaking along with the volcanos that surround the area. The food was so good there. You can walk around to different shops or stop at the coffee shop and have a dessert. It was really good! This is a must see for anyone visiting Ecuador!

Always heard about this place, I liked it a lot, they charge $2.50 to go in. The park has several mini museums, signs to tell you how far mayor cities are, restaurants playgrounds and when you go inside the monument, they have expositions of the different ethnicities and customs. The view from the top is beautiful great picture spots everywhere. They only thing missing were demonstrations of 0 latitude, physics. I really enjoyed it.

Definitely worth the ticket price! A beautiful spot with gorgeous mountain backdrops on all sides, also a good Italian restaurant across the street from the entrance I’d recommend!

Much better than I expected. Cheap price and about half a day to explore. Great view and friendly people. Food was ok.
