Community Hostel Alausi

Community Hostel Alausi is the ideal place to stay in this beautiful and peaceful village. The facilities are clean and modern, and the hostel has a real touch of Alausi’s proud history with wonderful paintings and cute monuments to celebrate this unique place. The train is also just outside, with restaurants and bars close by. The staff couldn’t be more welcoming, polite and helpful - just like the residents of the village - and it all left me wanting to revisit one day. I can honestly say going to this part of Ecuador is like stepping back in history and provides something different in the country for any tourist. You simply can’t go to Ecuador without coming here! You can also set off from the hostel on a clear path for the Devil’s Nose Hike if you want to include this in your plans, with a lovely cooked breakfast to set you on your path. Don’t miss out on this unique place! 10/10

Perfect for a stay in Alausi. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was the best we've had in Ecuador!

Modern and recently renovated hostel with comfortable rooms and beautiful ensuite bathrooms, a large sitting area conveniently located less than 5 minutes from town centre. Worth the $20 (double room) if you're around!

One of our top places in 2 months in Ecuador. Immaculately clean, very comfortable bed, excellent shower, shampoo provided, great communal space for making (free) coffee and meeting other travellers. Marco is such a helpful host and speaks good English.

Fantastic modern "hostel" that really feels more like a nice hotel. The hostel is located in the center of town and a quick walk to everything in Alausí. The only cause for complaint is that the water takes actual minutes to change temperature and you might be waiting a while for the water to heat up or cool down. Other than that, the bed was very comfortable, if slightly creaky, and the room was very clean. Free coffee and tea all day long in the lounge area too!

I highly recommend Community Hostel in Alausi. My wife and I stayed there recently and we were very impressed. The rooms are clean, breakfasts are excellent and the management and staff are superb. And I should mention, the bathrooms are first rate. Excellent facilities and it's in an excellent location close to the train station. Unfortunately, the train is not running at present but there is some great hiking.

Very nice place. We spent 2 nights. Nice design (wood). Room comfortable, fitted with a brand new bathroom. 5 stars cleanliness (cleaned and disinfected many times everyday). Super service. We were welcomed by Luis and Alexandra who took care of us in a perfect manner. We recommend

I love it here, Don Marco is an amazing man and the team here are amazing. The rooms are quiet, the beds and pillows are amazing with plenty of blankets. The breakfasts are incredible with vegetarian options. Alausi is a beautiful town friendly and safe. It's worth taking a few days here and hiking some of the trails around the mountains.

What a wonderful Hostel! It is so clean, tastefully furnished and the staff and the owner are so nice! The hostel opened 2 months ago and is completely new. The beds are very comfortable and the showers are amazing! You can also order there breakfast, lunch and dinner for a reasonable price and it's extremely delicious. You can also have coffee and tea for free all the time. We also did a tour with the owner to the wonderful sanguay national park and we had a wonderful time there, you should ask him about the tour!

Nice and clean room, in the centre of Alausí. The owner, Marco, puts in all his effort to make you stay memorable. He brought us to a good spot for hiking and took us to an amazing viewpoint.

I wish we could give Community Hostel Alausí more than five stars! The entire place is clean, quiet, safe and comfortable. Marco, the owner, was the absolute best host. He provided so many recommendations, helped us with our local hikes, and also drove and guided us on a trip to Lagunas de Ozogoche. He is a local legend with so much knowledge about the area and a heart to serve his community. We had breakfast everyday at the hostel and it was amazing. Alexandra made the most beautiful presentations! We heard about Community Hostel when we did a day tour at its Quito counterpart, which is run by Marco’s son. If you are in Alausí, staying here is a must!

great location in the centre, right next to the station, helpful staff, large, clean rooms and completely renewed spaces, excellent breakfast. If you are going to Ecuador consider staying in Alausi and choose this place for the night. Even though you cannot take the Nariz del Diablo train right now, you can hike to get even better views and an amazing experience! Hostel staff will gladly help you with information on how to find your trail. It's super easy and you can find details of it on their website too.

I came on a Sunday night and the hostel is newly renovated and clean. The owner is a family and everyone is super welcoming and some speak very good English. Breakfast was from 8 on and very good as well. Overall I am very happy to stopped in Alausi on my way.

Amazing! The cleanest and most comfortable place in Ecuador for every budget. We had a double room with a nice bed and everything was clean and fresh. The shower was amazing also and the food from Darwin was restaurant level!! Also make sure to ask the owner for a tour in his car to the lakes in the mountains. Stunningly beautiful countryside and a nice walk are worth the money for this 4 h trip. Thank you so much for this experience. Only penalty point was the wifi which shouldn't bother you too much since you should be outside enjoying the nature

Very new and nice hostal 500 feet from the train station. Beautiful location and very clean. You can buy breakfast or dinner at the hostal if you'd like. The owner and his family speak Spanish and English very well so don't be afraid to ask for help. They are very friendly and helpful.

Lovely place to stay, very relaxing. 😌 Quiet, comfortable, clean, and beautiful. Just a few minutes from the train. Superb breakfast. Couldn’t ask for anything more! It’s the best.

The place is very clean and very comfortable. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Interior is cozy and new. I didn't try the food as I was only staying for one night but there's free tea and coffee in the morning.

Very nice, the hot shower was on point! And the rooms felt more like an hotel then an hostel. Tea and coffee were available at any time, and the owner was very aware of the surrondings, i highly recomend if you pass by
