Victor Hugo Hotel

The location can't be beat. The room wasn't luxurious, but comfortable. Our number one criteria is being able to sleep to the sound of the surf, and this hotel is the only one like it on the beach. It's a beautiful design, the owner, Victor and his family were so friendly and hospitable. The breakfast was delicious, as was all the food we had there. Which, after trying a few other places, we felt it was the best. The staff were friendly and helpful. We look forward to coming back.

My stay at Victor Hugo Hotel in Puerto Lopez, Ecuador was absolutely amazing. The owners were incredibly warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The restaurant served delicious and affordable food, ensuring a satisfying dining experience. The breathtaking ocean views from the hotel were simply incredible. The rooms are very spacious. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience in Puerto Lopez, I highly recommend Victor Hugo.

We arrived earlier than expected (6:00) and we could check in at 7:00! Also very nice to have AC in the room!

I'm hotel buenísimo con trabajadores muy genial. Voy a recordar mi estancia por siempre. Great time. The owner is a one of a kind man. He natively speaks English if you are worried about a language barrier. Jordan is the one of the best workers at a hotel period. The staff will help with any of your needs. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, and the walk across the street can't be beat. If you want to go to Isla de la Plata, make sure you stay here as your base camp. Couldn't recommend it more.

I enjoyed 3 nights at this hotel. Comfortable bed. Clean room. Hot water. Food was good. Served breakfast and lunch. Miguel, the manager and his crew are friendly and responsive. The beach is across the street. The main part of town and malecon are a bit of hike. However, taxis are abundant. I would stay here again.

Not only is this hotel the most beautiful one in town, but the owner is also extremely nice. He helped me so much when I had fraud issues with my bank. He checked regularly to make sure I am doing ok, and even provided me access to their magic jack for making international calls to get my issues sorted. He is always involved and you can see him on the floor helping staff and checking on guests to make sure everyone has the best possible experience. I highly recommend this hotel. I would give 10+ stars if I could!

This was a nice change from the bnb I was in also in Puerto lopez because it was on the malecon and had a restaurant so I didn't need to wonder about food. Complementary coffee, hot milk and hot water with assorted teas.

Met the owner, Victor, who also speaks English, and was very welcomed as if I were an old friend. We are now! I've been here for a month at one of his apartments and the staff are friendly take care of your needs. Plus for the pool table on the second floor which overlooks the ocean right across the street. Oh, the beach is 30 yards in front of the hotel. Greta food and bar too.

I had the pleasure to stay at Víctor Hugo Hotel for about 6 weeks with my family. It is not only a unique and beautifully structured hotel in the perfect location, just a few steps from the Pacific Ocean, but it also has amazing suites with 24/7 breathtaking view of the beach, delicious food and a very peaceful and relaxing ambiance. It really felt as if we had escaped into another world. However, even more important to me was the consistent excellent service they provided all throughout our stay. A perfect place for temporarily escaping a very hectic lifestyle. I highly recommend it.

What a wonderful place to stay when in Puerto Lopez. The owner checked on us through out our stay to ensure that everything was satisfactory. The Hotel is newer and is on the beach and is away from the noise and congestion. Our oldest son plans on coming next year and we will recommend that they stay at Victor Hugo Hotel. Thanks again

By far the best hotel I stayed at during my trip to Ecuador. Oceanside view where you could just listen to the waves. The drinks and food were excellent as well. We were stuck there during a country wide strike and the owner went above and beyond to get us to the airport safely. I can’t rave enough about this place and wouldn’t ever consider a different hotel if I were to go back.

Great place to stay. We have a balcony to watch the sunset and the surf on a quiet end of the Malecon. Waking up in a very comfy bed ready for the full breakfast (included). A lovely five to ten minute walk gets us to the evening action for food and drinks galore. The morning fish market is worth a visit.

It was wonderful place to stay. New and clean amd wonderful owner and employees.

When I needed medical attention at this hotel Steve went above and beyond and got a doctor to visit. Service is outstanding!

Stopped in Porta Lopez for lunch with our driver Juan. Service was attentive and the food and drinks delicious. My wife is allergic to dairy and like almost everywhere in Ecuador, they made sure that it was not a problem. This is a great place to stop and relax. Prices are reasonable.

The owner Steve is a great guy. Very attentive and friendly. The food here is not only delicious and affordable, but really the only place in Lopez we can guarantee visitors can go for a "safe" meal - i.e. no "intestinal distress". Great bar, great atmosphere. The oceanview suites with A/C are the best.

Got to meet the owner and his son. Very nice people!! Best place to watch the sunset in town. Beautiful, well thought out design of the property. Very lush gardens, and nice rooms to rent. Best place in town!

Very nice hotel. Good food. Good service. The view of the beach is amazing. Rooms are cozy and clean.

We only had dinner, and it was AWESOME!! the food was so good, you must have the home made nachos with guacamole. Yummy!! On our next visit we will book a night.
