Nelly Rent a Car

This is the second time I had a bad experience with this company. The first time they would not let me rent a car using my VISA debit card. The workers told me I had to use a credit card. That's is obsurd especially when you can reserve the car online using your Debit Card. The second time I tried to give them a chance Nelly has absolutely NO customer service. I had to make a change in the reservation and I have yet to receive an email from them. I needed to change pick up locations from Puerto Plata to Santo Domingo. When I get there to Santo Domingo the representative Francia Ramirez told me that I had to take ALL of the insurance packages and I would be charged a fee of $45 because I did not pick up the car in Puerto Plata, even though I'm still waiting for an email back. Also When asked if I could use Debit she said yes! So we get the car it was dirty and there were small scratches everywhere on the car. I pointed out all the scratches and the guy nodded but wrote almost nothing down. When returning the car in Puerto Plata they said I damaged the car and if I don't get the police report from Sousa or Puerto Plata, I will be charged. When asked how much they said they did not know. If I was a foreigner I would've been robbed blindly. I went to get the police report and managed to get back with minimal time to make my flight. After that was taken care of I found out that I was being charged extra money because the lady in Santo Domingo put that I would use the car till Wednesday when I repeatedly told her Thursday. Puerto Plata Staff took an extra hour to complete the transaction causing me to miss my flight. They then proceeded to say Oh that's your fault because if you hadn't damaged the car I would not need a police report. I told them the guy who did the recording did a poor job. I also had to wait another 30 minutes for Santo Domingo to finalize the charge and send the receipt. I give credit where credit is due. The woman working with Jayel waived the fee for bringing the car to a different location. But I would never recommend this company to anyone because Nelly RAC caused me to miss my flight when I know I gave adequate time before my flight.

These people take your reservation, ask for a deposit (so they can hold the veh you reserved), then ask for you to keep in touch (so they can ensure they have the veh you reserved and for which you already paid a 50% deposit) and when you finally arrive at the airport they don't have vehicles because they rented it elsewhere. A horrible company to do business with.
