This is an amazing and fascinating museum with Tollund Man as the centerpiece of a comprehensive exhibit. Tollund Man is the prime example of preserved bog people in thousands of books and university textbooks on anthropology and other subjects.....it truly is extraordinary to see him in person. Helpful and lovely staff too.

Been over 30 years since I first visited here, and it’s still an amazing exhibit to see and learn from. Silkeborg is also a nice town with nice views, forests, hills, lakes and more.

Very charming little museum focused on local history.

The annex features a spectacular exhibit about 2 famous bog people, the Tollund Man and the Elling Woman.

This is really only a local museum but it has some awesome things, beautifully explained in perfect English. Very friendly staff, simple cafe (please, please, Danish people, have more black tea/English Breakfast Tea). The two bog bodies although not in 100% form (the science of conservation in the 1950's was in its infancy) are quite moving. Very highly recommend

The home of the famous Tollund Man! With appropriate respect this 2300 year old body is put on display in the museum. He has his own glas shrine and plenty of accessible and well designed explanations in the next door rooms. The exhibition is clear, gives a good impression of danish stone age lifestyle and accessible for people in a wheelchair. All text in English and Danish. The guide could tell a lot and was clearly dedicated to the Tollund Man. Take an hour to really suck in the fate of this bogbody. The rest of the museum can be done in half an hour or so. Be aware of busloads of cruise passengers racing in and out. Just wait until they made their pictures and then quietly enjoy the presence of Tollund Man.

Very interesting historical experience. The Tollund man is something you should see and hear the stories of how he came to be.

We visited here whilst on a break in Stockholm which was about an hour's drive away. The museum was easy to find due to the clear signage and is located opposite the river from where we later departed on a paddle steamer trip. The museum is home to the Tollund Man and Elling Woman with related exhibits displaying clothing, pottery, tools of the same era. It was an interesting 40 minutes of history explaining how they were found, the reason for their deaths and what they ate and suchlike based on various scientific tests performed. Also, exhibited but totally unrelated is a wedding dress collection from the 1960's todate.

Cozy, little museum with the world famous "Tollund man", the strange preserved human body from the iron ages who had been discovered in a bog close Silkeborg in the 1950s. Interesting exhibition for the whole family! Many other surprises there, for example some viking gods and a snoring dragon :)

Brilliant! A small, local museum, but full of cool stuff.

I've waited most of my life to meet Tollund Man, and I finally did!

The new installation of the Tollund man is a big improvement on what was there before. More interactive exhibits and more history around the find has helped to increase understanding and interest. The videos are an education and humorous in places too.
The other exhibits are a mere aperitif to the Tollund man. Definitely worth a visit.

The lady at the front with the short hair was amazingly welcome and informative. She didn’t just give me a piece of paper and say good luck like most museums around the world. She went in to detail about the history of what I’m about to see. I could see the passion when she was talking. The museum is very new being only a year old. And I could see they are still working on some parts in the 2nd building.but regardless It was great learning about the city’s history with the artifacts and examples. And to top it off the tollund man at the end was incredible.

Utroligt intressant og spændende! Extremely interesting and exciting. This place displays local history and artifacts, and the most exciting display is the "Bog Man" (died approx. 400 BC) whose actual preserved head you can see.
