Viktualienmarkt Beergarden

Stopped by the Viktualien market but was pretty much all closed up. Not realizing it was a Christian holiday, Ascension day, here in Germany we were unable to experience the famous market. However, the Biergarten was in full effect! Locals in traditional trachten and plain clothes alike had flocked to this central watering hole and were partying up. The vibe was semi electric and everyone was in a positive mood. The traditional brass band was playing German music and local food and beers were a plenty.
We had two Local bottled heffewiessens poured into mugs and for a mid afternoon snack we grabbed a few sausages. I opted for the cheesy Kaisenbratwurst. My son went with the
Bratwurst special which is a foot (or more) long brat with saurkraut and fried onions topped with mustard.
The ambiance was epic.

A lovely outdoor beer garden near Marienplatz serving up both beer and food. Great place when the weather is good.

This place is absolutely buzzing. Near the Marienplatz you just stop to get a bite and some beers and the atmosphere is so cool! However, during lunch time it sooooo crowded that you literally have to stay in line to get a seat, stay in line to get some wurst and stay in line to get beers. There's no way you can escape the lines, but it is worth it. Beers go for 5 a small one and 10 euros a large one.

We went to the Biergarten while working out way through the market It's a great relaxing place to hang out, eat, and drink a beer. A couple of things to know.

1. By law you are allowed to bring outside food into any Biergarten. They just ask that you buy the beer there. If you bring food in only sit at the tables/benches without table clothes. Tables with table clothes are for food service.

2. Many places in and around the Biergarten take cash only.

We purchased leberkase sandwiches from across the street, brought them over and bought some beer. It was very relaxing!

Decent local fare at a great price! We came back twice cuz it’s a good option besides the tourist traps around Marienplatz. The beer changes every week/day - we had Augustiner which was light and lovely! Service charge is not included so a 5-15% tip is requested.

Beer garden in viktualienmarkt is indeed a place to visit in munich. A lot of local beer and food in this place. Nice place

Very nice place for friends gathering and having some fun. The ice cream with the cake was very nice. However, I suggest that they increase the portion of thcake as it was very small and maybe lessen the amount of ice cream. In general, it can be shared by two.

Great beers and super nice vibe

A nice beer garden very close to Marienplatz in the centre of the old town. Unusual in that it offers beers from different breweries on a rolling basis. Beer was very nice as was the food - would recommend the schnitzel!

Very nice beer garden in Munich to eat and drink traditional food and drinks outdoor. Quick turnaround of tables so easy to get a table and quick service also. Standard prices for Munich beergardens. Must visit when visiting.

Great Beer Garden close to Marienplatz.
The Russ'n (wheat beer and lemonade) was delicious, perfect for summer.
The tree cover was very nice for the heat and sun. My meal was also very good.
Highly recommend!

Spent quite some time here during my 5 days in Munich loved the fast efficient service

Met friends here from overseas, they were here for the first time in Munich, sat for lunch at this place, for a taste of something traditional.
We ordered the pork knuckle, the pork slices and the beef with dumplings, horseradish and slaw. The food was full of flavour and tasted delicious. Washed down with a nice cold half litre beer.

Nice casual area under these huge trees, service was great, the food great and the atmosphere absolutely fantastic, do not miss this place, plenty of seating, but I presume that's why they have that many tables and seats as it tends to get busy.

For Sunday lunch this was virtually the only place open at the markets and it was packed ,,, enjoy!!!

Excellent place to stop for a quick beer and a decent feed.

Brezel and Weiss wurst and gulash were espectacular, the Weiss bier was very tasty. Definitely would come back again!

Amazing variety of vegetables, fruits, food items and much more. You should visit this place as a tourist as well.

It is a beautiful and incredible outdoor beer garden. The beer is great and any lines move fast. Cash only at the beer stand.
