Bob's Special Tours

The Sound of Music / Hallstatt tour was the perfect tour for us at an unbeatable price, the right amount of touring and detail about The Sound of Music sites, the history, updates, etc - coupled with a fabulous visit to Hallstat, with such gorgeous scenery!

Bruno, our guide, was engaging and well-informed, a local with deep knowledge of the area. The vehicle was clean and well maintained, and Bruno was super punctual (including the hotel pickup!). He was a skilled and careful driver, great communicator, and was thoughtful in his suggestions for the tour and for our time in Hallstatt.

Jonathan was our guide for the Sound of Music and Hallstat tour. We went in early January of 2024 and had a great time. Jonathan was extremely knowledgeable and was a wonderful guide. The tour takes you all around to show you many places that are related to the Sound of Music while also pointing out other noticeable sites along the way. Many of the sites you just see from the van, and a few you stop and get out or take a look. There is a good bit of driving to and from Hallstat, but the time goes by quickly. Several hours to explore Hallstat on your own.

I really enjoyed this tour, especially that it was in a small group, in a van and not in a large bus with 50+ people.

We did the Sound of Music tour which should be a must for any fan. I definitely prefer smaller tours - it's much easier to take photos, there's no waiting around for stragglers, and you're not stuck so tightly to a schedule.

Eva was wonderful! We only had 6 people on our tour which meant we had a really great environment to ask questions, chat, and can go where a lot of the other large tour groups can’t. We went into the Austrian mountains & countryside, doing a full loop through the lake areas — gorgeous! Would book with this company again in heartbeat! We saw the Sound of Music filming locations but also learned a lot about the history of Salzburg. Great tour!

The tour was great. It not only focused on the Sound of Music but our wonderful guide Eva also talked about the history of Salzburg. Being in a small group was also nice, less waiting to get on and off like on yhe big coach busses. We were also able to go up in the mountains with amazing views and passed through many charming towns.

It was a small group which meant we could ask plenty questions and ensured that we had the best trip possible. I would definitely book with Bob’s Special Tours again and would highly recommend them to anyone travelling to Salzburg.

Great tour! Alvin made the trip fun, even his honking was entertaining. Don't take the big bus tours, take this one. Drive to the lake district was the best!

My husband and I booked the Sound of Music Tour in August, 2022. It was wonderful - there were only four of us on the tour so we were able to get a lot of individualized information. Our tour guide was wonderful and provided a great deal of WW II history. In fact, we received more historical information on this tour as we did on the Eagles Nest Historical Tour. The tour covers a lot of ground and we were able to see the many wonderful sites in Salzburg and beyond. DO NOT do the Panorama tour. On many of our stops, we saw the huge buses and large amounts of tourists to one guide. Bob's is the way to go.

Undoubtedly the best tour I personally have participated in, the Sound Of Music + Hallstatt package was extraordinary. All the landmarks and poi’s relevant had their respective information provided by our guide along the drive. I had not watched nor had interest in the sound of music but this tour had flipped that around alone. The short stay in hallstatt was more than enough to view and explore the grounds and surreal environment the lakeside town had to offer. The pace was consistent and enjoyable. 11/10 would go again if I wasn’t broke but definitely recommend to other tourists as it isn’t as hectic and loud as opposed to the tour busses

Bruno was a warm and friendly guide who had thorough knowledge of the Salzburg area. My family and I took the Sound of Music Tour, and we were thankful to take a small group van that could take us down winding roads through the countryside to make unique stops and get personalized questions answered. The Sound of Music and Hallstatt tour was amazing! We had several friends recommend going with Bob’s Special Tours and we are so glad that we did! The smaller group was definitely so much better than a huge tour bus. Alvin was a wealth of knowledge and extremely kind! 10/10 for this tour!

We loved the sound of music tour. It was the perfect choice for us. It was a beautiful personal tour and much like being driven around the local area by a friend. Lots of great information not just about the sound of music but also all the surrounding area. The tour includes a drive through the lakes district which was unexpected. I highly recommend this tour for those travelling with companions who may not be so interested in the sound of music. Great value.

My family and I went on the morning Sound of Music Tour with Luke as our guide and we had a wonderful time! We really enjoyed seeing the places where the movie was filmed, but also all the additional sights and info about the areas around Salzburg.

Took 2 tours with Bob's Tours. One was The Sound of Music and the other the Silent Night Tour on Christmas Eve. Loved them both. Especially like the smaller size as it's more personal.

We throughly enjoyed this informative tour. Tom, our driver and guide was very attentive and engaging. He mixed his commentary with history, humour and music. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone interested in the Sound of Music and the surrounding area.

We had Chris as our driver and he was interesting to hear as well as talk to. We liked the fact that the minibus got us into some rural lanes that the big coach tours could not.
