Visiting the German Museum of Medical History in Ingolstadt was an eye-opening experience that I highly recommend to anyone passing through this charming Bavarian city. Nestled in a historic 18th-century hospital building, the museum offers a unique glimpse into the fascinating evolution of medicine.

As soon as I stepped in, I was captivated by the beautifully restored baroque apothecary. The intricate details and antique jars filled with mysterious substances transported me back in time. The museum's collection is extensive, ranging from ancient surgical instruments to more recent medical innovations, all meticulously displayed with informative descriptions.

What I found particularly engaging were the interactive exhibits. They made complex medical history accessible and interesting, even for those without a scientific background. I was also impressed by the special exhibitions that delve into specific aspects of medical history, adding depth to the visit.

The medicinal plant garden was another highlight. Strolling through this serene outdoor space, I learned about the natural origins of many traditional remedies. It was a peaceful and educational complement to the indoor exhibits.

Overall, the German Museum of Medical History in Ingolstadt is a hidden gem that beautifully blends education with engagement. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in history, medicine, or simply looking for a unique experience in Ingolstadt.

An excellent museum for those interested in medicine and anatomy and would definitely recommend visiting the museum if you are in Ingolstadt. There is an audio guide in both German and English, which is easy to follow. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Also, it is worth walking the botanical garden which grows plants used in historical medicines especially on a nice sunny day you can have coffee and cake next to the garden.

Great museum of you are into that kind of stuff or working in the medical field. Staff are super kind and helpful. Unfortunately it was not the right season for us to enjoy the outside garden fully, but this can only mean we’ll have to visit again in the spring

I think they did a really nice tour. It is a simple tour and takes an hour. This tour would definitely be more exciting if you were in the medical field.

Famous for it's connection to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, this is a museum full of history and life. Well worth visiting as part of a visit to Ingolstadt, it's baroque building and medicine garden are outstanding as are the strange collections of toys and gifts in the shop!
