Písek Stone Bridge

The view from the bridge, and the old town of Písek in general, is for me one of the highlights of the region. Very well developed, nice walking trails and a beautifully restored historic centre.

An impeccably preserved monument, eloquent of medieval Czechia. The view is magnificent, with lovely houses, cafes and restaurants dotted along the banks of the river Otava. During favourable weather conditions, kayaking is a beloved sport. A must-see for people frequenting Písek!

Must visit this historical oldest stone bridge in Czech, and 2nd in Europe. It might brings nothing to some people, but it might bring something to some people.

One of my favorite things to do in my free time is to visit old towns and villages in the Czech Republic and imagine what life was like for the people living there in the middle ages. This bridge really stirred my imagination. Charles IV once crossed this bridge and stayed in the castle. It is the oldest bridge in the Czech Republic and it does not disappoint.

Great piece of history and well maintained engineering landmark. Also the surroundings are worth visiting, over all a good developed area along the river of Otava. Don’t miss the evidences from 2002 floods, placed on the information stand near the bridge.

It's amazing to think that bridge which has been around for hundreds of years was almost washed away by summer floods just a few years ago.

It has since been sympathetically restored and strengthened and new statutes carved and put back into place.

The view from the bridge of the castle is timeless.

Very calm, pedestrian atmosphere..nice laid back small ace on a much smaller scale than Prague but pleasant, a couple of architectural gems ..

I always wanted to see the oldest Czech stone bridge still alive. This is what Judith's bridge (ancestor of the Charles Bridge, both at Prague) must have looked like. 13th century architecture ammended in later years, but still - a remarkable piece of medieval architecture. Glad to have seen it.

The stone bridge is why we visited Pisek. Everyone mentions the Charles Bridge in Prague but this bridge, although much smaller, is much older. Keep your eyes open for the informational signs. They are easy to miss.

Pisek is a good city for a weekend or to work during the week.

Many places to eat good, nice area for running.
