Paraiso Tropical Caño Negro Fishing & Nature Tours

What a great place and great people! The tour was the best experience I’ve ever had on a boat tour. The staff were so attuned to nature we saw 3 species of monkeys including the red howler.(Congo Rojo) only 2 there a genetic abnormality,caiman,birds of all kinds, iguanas and so much more! I highly recommend this place! The road is a little rough but worth the drive. Anna and her husband are the managers and became a friend for life. A great meal is included with the tour!

Stunning wildlife and scenery on the Cano Negro!
We got the recommandation from our hosts, Donald and Pippa, from Casitas Tenorio to go on the Cano Negro boat tour with Paraiso Tropical.
Our tour guide and boat captain was Rosi. She made herself really approachable from the get go. We hopped on a broad bottom boat with around 12-15 seats.
The broad bottom makes the boat makes the boat really stable, so you can comfortably lean on the sides, or move around when different wildlife is out of your eyesight.
Rosi steared us genlty on the canal and gave us valuable information about the wildlife refuge. She has the eyes of a hawk, spotting wildlife that would otherwise go unobserved by the untrained eye.
She used a laser pointer to guide us where to look, but without aiming directly at the animals.
On the banks of the canal we saw Emerald basilisks, aka Jesus Christ lizards, iguanas and caimans.
We saw multiple species of birds: cormorans, egrets, King fishers, Anhingas (Snake bird), Scarlet Rump tanagers, Social fly catchers, Green Herons, a red-breasted Trogon etc.
Rosi carefully steered the boat close enough so we can have a closer look and take photos, but was mindful not to stress the wildlife with our presence. This was her approach throughout the tour and we were delighted to see that nature is respected and protected.
Rosi is very knowleadgeable and always has interesting details about the fauna and flora. We also loved that she gave us enough time to take in the scenery. We really enjoyed the visit to the lagoon. The scenery is amazing! You have a splendid view of the iconic volcanoes of Costa Rica: Arenal, Tenorio, Miravailles and Rincon de la Vieja.
This tour is indeed a Tropical Paradise ready to welcome birdwatchers and all nature lovers!

We arranged a tour with Rosi on very short term, phoned her the evening before, drove up to Cano Negro from La Fortuna (2 hours +) and had a wonderfull experience of the serene landscape and amazing wildlife of Cano Negro. Rosi has shown us loads of reptiles and birds, explained a lot, could answer every question, we've found a sloth high in the trees and saw a flying jabiru. Thank you Rosi!

27th November 2019. The long drive from Tenorio was very definitely well worth the effort. Rosi guided just the two of us along the river to the lagoon and seemed to spot birds and animals so easily, she explained their nature and habitat so knowledgeably - she had such a sunny and enthusiastic disposition! She and her husband are hugely aware of the environment and climate change and they are doing something about it by planting trees on their island home. Their business is Paraiso Tropical Cano Negro and they really deserve to flourish. Good luck!

Paraiso Tropical Caño Negro es una empresa tour Operadora de tipo familiar. Sus dueños, Rosi y Joel, son excelentes anfitriones. Conocen a fondo el Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Mixto de Caño Negro, para llevar al visitante por un paseo de Observación de Flora y fauna, de AVISTAMIENTO de Aves, Pesca deportiva, Caminatas. Super recomendados.

Faites la balade en bateau! Endroit sublime très peu touristique. Un guide adorable qui a pris énormément de peine pour me montrer des animaux et m’expliquer plein de choses, tellement patient avec moi qui n’arrivait pas bien à voir les animaux. Il y a des Caïmans, des singes (capucins et hurleurs), iguanes, basiliques, chauve-souris et oiseaux en abondance et tous dans leur habitat. Un lieu si peu connu du Costa Rica et qui mériterait vraiment de l’être! Allez-y si vous en avez l’occasion. Vous pouvez dormir à « l’étoile céleste » un ecolodge qui se trouve à 45 min de voiture, endroit plein de charme, avec des propriétaires aux petits soins et des repas délicieux!

Joel nos hizo un tour tan magnífico que repetimos por la tarde. Una bella persona que conoce muy bien el lugar. Se toma todo el tiempo necesario para que disfrutes. De hecho el tour de 2 horas duró 2'5 horas.

2 weken terug een boottocht gemaakt met onze 2 kinderen (12 en 9 jaar) met Rosie als gids, het was fantastisch. We zaten in het laagseizoen en hadden een privé boot. Veel dieren gezien, kaaimannen, schildpadden, leguanen, Jezus Christus hagedis, apen en veel vogels. Rosie vertelde trots over de dieren en de omgeving en nam extra lang de tijd. Prachtige omgeving. De weg ernaar toe is gravel (19km) maar goed te doen. Ik raad deze boottocht zeker aan!

Un lugar imperdible. Se aprecia diversidad de especies. Es un recorrido en lancha maravilloso.

Experiencia inolvidable. Repetiria sin dudarlo. Tuvimos la suerte de hacer el tour solos y pudimos disfrutarlo muchisimo.
Nuestro guia estuvo super atento en todo momento y nos iba enseñando uno a uno los animales que nosotros no eramos capaces de ver por la falta de costumbre. Queriamos ver perezosos y los buscó minuciosamente. Tuvimos la suerte de poder ver monos aulladores, monos araña y capuchiños, al igual que un sin fin de aves, iguanas, caimanes, cocodrilos, tortugas... Salimos encantados!!!!

Es war mit Ernesto eine wirklich tolle lehrreiche 2 1/2 h Bootsfahrt morgens um 7. Ernesto macht das mit sehr viel Hingabe.
Wir sahen viele Tiere.

Caño Negro es una experiencia que obligatoriamente debemos vivir. Un paraíso que invita al regreso. Existen muchas actividades para la recreación y el esparcimiento. Recomendado

Posto fantastico, lontano ma poco frequentato da turisti. Molti caimani ed animali lungo tutta l'area. Abbiamo pescato molti pesci ed è stata un'esperienza fantastica.

De schotel met zeevruchten was fantastisch. Alles vers uit de stille oceaan.
