Olichen Restaurant

What a find! I'd read a lot about the creative chefs in Valparaiso and by accident found this place. Creative, innovative and wonderful produce elevated to a epic level with some impressive imagination. The owner/chef Gonzalo Lora is the heart and soul of this restaurant and it deserves a lot more patronage. Just magnificent, visit it and experience something truly unique.

Just loved the time I spent here having lunch tapas with a glass of wine on the roof terrace, absorbing the food and the view. The flavour combinations are exciting and mysterious in their origin, the ingredients carefully selected. Before I left I had the opportunity to try garlic ice cream also olive ice cream and dried Strawberries i . Wow its a must. Thankyou Gonzalo for a wonderful experience.

Loved this restaurant - best restaurant I’ve been to in Valparaiso. Exciting menu focussed on traditional Chilean cuisines and sourced from organic producers across Chile, to get the best ingredients for the dishes. The menu is not shy and the flavours pack a punch. The wine was delicious. The food was served on lovely ceramic plates and bowls. The chef and owner, Gonzalo Lara, is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. Olichen is not to be missed.

Great service and food. It felt like a private chef type of night since they take limited reservations only a few other tables will be seated during your reservation. Roof top seating is a must!

Fantastic find! Cozy and comfortable 3-level seating. Top level terrace with great view. Chilean style dishes prepared wonderfully. Everything we tried on menu: appetizers, main courses, desserts, were delicious.

Olichen is doing really really good food, using odd flavor combinations that might read odd on a menu (is this guy out to lunch, I wondered) but in fact work very well. Nice wines too at a good price. This restaurant is refreshingly creative in a city that can be a bit mired in tradition at times. Recommended.

The different fish recipes were Brilliant and this place deserves better visibility.

We came across this restaurant in the early evening and were intrigued by the menu and the examples of how the chef offered an innovative approach to the use of local ingredients. Opting for the rockfish and for the pork (accompanied by a generous glass of house organic Sauvignon Blanc and an artesanal Stout respectively), we were delighted with the results! The gastronomic joys continued with the desserts where home made ice creams with novel but excellent flavours accompanied delicious desserts. The view from the rooftop space was spectacular and the hostess and cook were charming! Well done - recommended!

PS the small number of negative reviews you might see below are not about this restaurant but presumably about a cake shop somewhere else ... Best ignored!

Olichen is one of the best restaurants which we visited in Chili. It is situated a little bit outside the busy area.
Fantastic vieuw from the terrace. The chef uses local chilean products, is very friendly and they serve delicious meals ! No doubt : TOP RESTAURANT !

Exceptional food, creative dishes, great view of Valparaiso, kind and fun host. Highly recommended - one of the best meals we had in Chile.

We had a wonderful evening here. The food is modern but authentic and of the highest quality. The view the terrace is one of the best in Valparaiso.

Finally, our waiter Manu was charming and insightful and spoke perfect English when we needed it. The chef was also kind, welcoming.

This is a lovely, chef-owned restaurant in Valparaiso, specializing in contemporary Chilean food. The menu is innovative, and our waiter, Manu Santis, spoke excellent English and guided us through unfamiliar options. Well worth a visit!

Olichen has a passionate chef who sources high quality produce from all over Chile. The food was delicious.

This restaurant is awesome. The food was incredible and the way that the dishes are described shows how much consideration has gone into the menu. I'd definitely recommend a visit.

Vale 100% a subida até aqui. Um local extremamente limpo, charmoso, e muito aconchegante.

Os vinhos são muito bons e a vista é muito bonita.

Acredito que seja uma excelente opção e oportunidade de conhecer mais sobre a historia desse país.

Con una vista a los cerros de Valparaiso realmente espectacular, la cocina del chef Gonzalo Lara se deleita sin más. Sus platos especialmente escogidos para brindar comida recolectada por mujeres chilenas con su toque único, son sorprendentes, distintos, deliciosos, como el postre de helado de aceitunas negras, la entrada de empanadas fritas de cochayuyo, el tiradito de locos, la lengua con salsa de maní tostado, el puré de chícharos, etc. Todo exquisito!!! Vayan!!!

Buenas! Fui hace 1 semana y el lugar es muy lindo, el chef muy simpático y amable, la chica que nos atendió un amor, la comida excelente, una entrada de locos con alcachofas muy fresca y rica, de fondo una prieta en versión similar a lo pobre espectacular (sin papas) y mi amiga pidió una lengua que estaba muy rica. Nos falto probar los postres así que volveré.

Interesante propuesta con platos atrevidos que rescatan la cocina y los productos chilenos y lo llevan a una cocina de investigación. Vale la pena "arriesgarse" y probar de todo, es una interesante experiencia y excelente servicio. Los platos creemos que seguirán evolucionando y se desarrollarán más aún.
La nota de Google aún no refleja la realidad, los comentarios negativos no son del Restaurant. Creo que a medida que más gente visite, se irá ajustando más a la experiencia.

En la búsqueda de espacios únicos para conocer en la región llegué a Olichen Restaurant. El lugar es lindo, tranquilo y con una muy buena vista a los cerros de Valparaíso. La atención del chef y la garzona fue excelente, ambos muy amables y preocupados. Por último y lo mejor: la comida; muy original, con sentido, exquisita, bien presentada y auténticamente chilena.
