The Federal Store Luncheonette & Grocer

This is such a cute gem of a cafe. They have a small breakfast menu and a nice drink selection. I went during the hot chocolate fest, and their Suntori time hot chocolate and cupcake was delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful. They have little artisanal treats available, too. There are non-dairy milk options, as well. There is a surprising amount of seating indoors and outdoors, but it certainly isn’t big. I definitely recommend this cafe!

《HOT CHOCOLATE FEST ENTRY》

You don't usually see white miso inside of hot chocolate, but somehow The Federal Store made it work! Their entries for this year's Hot Chocolate Fest were all super unique, but the Suntory Time was the one that caught my eye. 🥃

It featured white miso brown butter mixed into 66% dark chocolate 🍫, creating a smooth and decadent beverage. ☕ With each sip, you got a bit of the salted, whiskey roasted pecan on the rim, to round out the sweetness of the hot chocolate.

The mini s'mores cupcake 🧁 served on the side was so good too. I wish they had one in full size 😂. The meringue butter cream was lightly torched and topped with crumbled graham crackers. The cupcake itself was made of super moist devil's food cake. So tasty! 🤤

I absolutely love the Federal. I live on Quebec so I’m very much a regular, like everyday. The staff are warm and welcoming and the baked goods/tomato soup are just so damn good. They have seasonal options and they recently expanded into grocery. Only feedback is the lines get a bit long on weekends but that shows how liked they are!

Cute little spot for breakfast. We had the breakfast biscuit with feta and a london fog. London fog was made with real tea and was yummy. Friendly staff, credit accepted but cash preferred.

They also sell some local items like milk eggs honey hot sauce and chocolate.

I got the lavender latte and avocado toast and its one of the most satisfying treat I’ve ever given myself. Both are very tasty!

The service is great. They were very kind and warm. The atmosphere is just the same. The whole place is a hidden gem. Will definitely be back!

What a jewel! but I’m not gonna lie I expected them to be bigger and sell more stuff, still a great place to sit and hang with a friend or just chill. Beautiful to sit outside on a sunny day! They sell plants etc.

Yummy chill and relaxed coffee shop with great casual food. The bread was divine and the espresso hot and fresh (though maybe just a tad over extracted from high temperature?). Everything had the hip glamourous but homestyle vibe to it (if your mom baked semi/professionally) but was fair on pricing for quality baked delights.

Tldr, come for decent coffee and drinks and the food in a chill and comfortable atmosphere

Been here multiple times at this cute little neighbourhood store. They always have nice pastries and speciality coffee beans for sale! I truly appreciate their covid protocols. Friendly staff, quick service, and they have nice outdoor seating. I would highly recommend the Federal Store Lunchoenette to anyone.

Five years later and still one of my favourite places. I miss these wonderful Vancouver cafes and biking past everyday. Had a great sandwich and coffee, a little expensive but it's the perfect place to sit for a while and look out the windows.

The very definition of a quaint neighbourhood place! Tasty home food and lovely staff.

This place is so cute, the food is wonderful, and the staff are amazing. It's a pretty popular cafe for the size, so if you go there on the weekend, expect to wait and potentially not get a seat, BUT the area it's in is beautiful and you can get a coffee and a snack and go for a walk. It's totally worth it, especially if you get a seat, cause the atmosphere is here great, and the outdoor seating on a nice day is amazing!

This is one of my favourite cafes in the city! They do amazing coffee and their sourdough is to die for. I usually go for the avocado toast, the grilled cheese is also amazing with the addition of fig jam to make it one of the most amazing grilled cheeses ever! They also sell some great products such as free range eggs and alternate milks. There isn't much seating but people generally don't stay too long so you will find a seat if you hang around.

We ordered a small cake and a selection of vegan and non-vegan cupcakes from Federal Store to use at our wedding in September 2022. Everything was absolutely delicious and the ordering and pick up process was very straightforward!

Cafe with limited corner store and more luxury good items. This store is set up well for COVID with the ordering taking place outside and items for sale on window display. Also some seating nearby although you do need to check in before you sit down.
