It’s a convenience store...

Not that great of a store. You can get what you need but the selection isn't that great.

I knew the previous owners and had a nice chat with the new owners very recently. But recent experience suggests one of their 1.5L water bottles was spiked! I parked Sunday early evening right in front of the store to find a shopper with a ‘triumphant’ face holding the door for me. I said ‘thank you’ and grabbed two bottles of water. At the cashier the triumphant shopper kept us waiting while choosing a bag of chips; the new owner, who was chatty when I met him last, remained quiet (tired?). Finally I paid and left. The next morning Monday, I got up around 5am and close to 6am I had a glass of water from the soft plastic of the Naya water bottle (but clearly the brand is not the issue). Within 30/40 minutes, I had the very concerning symptoms below. I decided to spend the next day consuming left overs from food I had on Sunday to separate the water bottle and did not get the same symptoms. It’s a warning to shop owners to keep an eye on shoppers as some don’t have good intentions. This bottle was definitely spiked; perhaps the bottle’s ‘softness’ was a sign I should have noticed (punctured?) but it was sealed. Here are the symptoms in the order in which they occurred (accumulatively):
-unusually deep breaths coinciding with numbness in arms and hands.
- facial muscle spasms.
- about an hour and a half later, a brief floating sensation followed by a burning sensation in the chest area.
- by 9am, some numbness in hands remained.
Again, shop owners don’t keep the shop unattended when there are no customers. You never know who might come in and do what to your merchandise.
