Alberta Prairie Railway

What a fun experience! The train was decorated on the inside for Christmas - the murder mystery characters were great, and the saloon car in the back was awesome! Highly recommend!!

Travelled back in time to casino royal roaring 30s the rail cars were bustling with amazing actors in full custume and a theme of who done it murder mystery was in play...a stop in Big Valley with home cooked turkey supper and all the trimings made it feel authentic and delishious.This adventurer spent much time in the bar car but loved the rolling sounds of the clickety clack of the train and country views stay tuned for the polar express its on my bucket list!

Great entertainment for the whole family! My kids loved it, from 6 to 11. We were also singing along and enjoyed all of the songs and dances, and snacks.

Brought the whole family to experience the Polar Express Train. The grandkids loved the hot chocolate, silver bell and golden ticket! Well done!

We took the early dinner ride and had a great time. Lots of activities for the kids. Meal was good and all staff we encounter were pleasant and helpful.

Took a friend of mine on the train and he was treated very well.
Was a good day, they keep us busy from 2:00 PM till 8:00 PM. The dinner was Turkey buffet and it was OK for a train trip, your not there for the food but the train. Good entertainment and the people that robbed the train on horse back were funny, everything that they get goes to children's charities, so bring some cash to drop in their bag.

Well worth the price and the time.

This place is absolutely amazing!! If you ever have the opportunity to take their Polar Express Train, do it!!
I was a little hesitant booking g it due to the price. It was a lot of money for just my daughter and I, but I took the chance, and am so glad I did!
The staff, from the parking attendants, to the office staff, to the performers, were absolutely spectacular!
The performances were wonderful, and you can't help but feel like you're in the movie!
Everyone is so engaged and interactive, it's fun to get lost in something that is just completely good for a while!
The mugs you get from it are gorgeous, and the silver bells are a great reminder for your tree!
Remember, there are no washrooms on the trains, but there are lots at the station. As well, it can get quite warm in the train cars due to all the people and excitement, so don't dress too overly warm!
Oh! And don't forget to wear your Christmas Jammies!!

Family and I went on the Polar Express, and my expectations were exceeded! A fun memory for all of us! The whole program was well organized. The train was warm, and the hot chocolate was delicious. My son was shocked by meeting the real Santa and loved the dancing elves at the North Pole! I will recommend this experience to anyone who is looking for Christmas Magic.

Incredible experience! We were on coach 7279 for the polar express ride and we had the best time, our “chef” made the whole event so amazing, she had the best energy ! The whole crew was awesome. Definitely a great way to kick off the holiday season

ALL ABOARD! Lots of fun , even for grown ups! Train robbery was a hoot to watch. I am disappointed I was.not held up Guess the robbers did not want to cause an international incident by robbing an American.

Shout out to Don, the owner. Very nice fella and really understands what old fashioned customer service is.

What a great experience it was!! Its must. A tip, watch polar express movie first. Whole experience tranceforms in to different world. All the staff is fantastic. Kids enjoyed a lot. It was magical.

The train service departing from Stettler on Alberta Prairie Railway are top notch with the best service around. We visit a few times a year just to ride the Big Valley trip. The new Hideaway ride is shorter & has an excellent little spot for kids to enjoy a true and wholesome family experience. If you live in Alberta, or are here to visit, this is a must have on that list of stops!

We had a wonderful time at Alberta Prairie Railway tour yesterday (27 August 2022). The train took us from Stettler Prairie Railway Station to the town of Big Valley, Alberta. There was great entertainment on the train and robbery on the way. We were treated with a bbq spare rib dinner with potatoes, carrots, beans, salad, buns, and ice cream at the Big Valley Community Hall.

We had a Wonderful time. Great Staff, commentary, Train Robbers, Town of Big Valley is awesome. A roast beef dinner was served buffet style and was very tasty. A nice walk around town and some shopping was fun,of course a trip to the jail is a must! We enjoyed a drink in the bar car too on the way back to Stettler.
We look forward to return to take the Seniors Tour again. Thank you to all who bring back the good old days of train travel.

We took our Grandkids on the polar express train ride. Was magical for them. One little complaint is the guy boarding and taking tickets would be nice if he was in conductor outfit. Would add to the magic of it all.

This was a fabulous way to spend a day and was worth every penny! The entertainment on the trip was awesome. All staff on the train and in the village of Big Valley were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend. Cant wait to check out the polar express!

We went on The Railway Heritage Day excursion from Stetller to Big Valley on their 2-8-0 Consolidation (Engine 41). We had a great time, and were entertained by the staff and performers both ways! The BBQ steak dinner we had in Big Valley was great too!
