Second time visiting Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. This time we went for First Light. It is beautifully decorated. The fireworks were mesmerizing. Shuttle bus system was smooth and efficient. It was busy but it wasn’t too crowded. Staff was very helpful as well.

I went on the day of truth and reconciliation, September the 30th. There was a wonderful ceremony for the survivors 💔
Afterwards we were able to make a medicine pouch and view the amazing reconstruction that has gone on here. We watched a very, very poignant, sad and difficult video called" the nature of healing" I highly recommend it for anyone who has questions about how our first nations people were treated.

I am in awe visiting this place. Looking back the old civilization. Its like entering into another era of life.. The log houses. The things inside it. The animal fur, the equipments and tools. So many things to learn in here. Parking is free. There is entrance fee which is minimal. Staff are nice.

An outstanding museum and open air recreation of the settlement. The quality if the reconstruction is truly impressive. The feel of the period is well conveyed although one can't help concluding that it doesnt fully acknowledge the human disaster of yet another example of the arrogant European culture and religion destroying another race both ethnically and literally (diseases brought by the immigrants from France caused the deaths of over half of the Indigenous people). It gets a mention, but not enough in my opinion, the thrust if this recreated settlement and the nearby church and shrines being to celebrate the invading religion which destroyed the balance of nature leading toward to crisis world we have today.
So - lovely piece of archeological and building work, but sad backstory of the cancer that is 'white civilization '

Amazing experience! Great attention to details in rebuilding this settlement. The smell of firewood, how items are carefully placed in the buildings, and guides walking around in their French-style costumes really made our visit very special! Highly recommended!

Wonderful museum! My elementary school kids love their visit there. It took us about 2.5 hours to walk thru the outdoor part on a Monday with not that many people. So, make sure to reserve 3 hours for visiting the whole museum.

The entry fee here includes Martyrs Shrine and 50% Discovery Harbour in Penetanguishene. Amazing value!

The kids enjoyed it, and so did we. A realistic walk through Canadian history.

Very well maintained historical museum, showing the history and lifestyle of Wendat community. The staff and guides here are very courteous and knowledgeable. It's a must do thing if you are visiting midland/wasaga beach, or even worth going specifically for this place.

Beautiful setting, tranquil experience of the lives of early indigenous peoples and settlers. Only had two hours on our tour, not long enough in my opinion.

A great place to stop by for an indoor and outdoor museum experience! I learned a lot about the history of Canada and the history of this region! The museum has put some lovely touches to bring some life to the history. The outdoor museum has thoughts that are clearly paved to take you through the journey of the missionary settlement. The indoor museum is more broad and takes you through the history of the French coming to Canada.

I highly recommend visiting this place, it's amazing how it gets you involved and transports you in time. Very entertaining, we enjoyed walking on our own and listening to the audio guide. The staff is really friendly and knowledgable. The museum is well put together, we were impressed by the quality considering is not a big one. No wifi but parking is free. I would definitely come back to participate in the activities offered in the summer program.

We attended First Light. It was amazing, there was so much to see and do. Great folk music, crafts for kids and tones of vendors. This was such a fun Canadian Christmas experience. We will definary add this to our yearly traditions, and at $10 plus food donation it is very affordable.
