I did the 4 day family base camp whale watching tour with my husband and 2 kids (6 yrs and 9 yrs) and it is one of the best things we've ever done. The guides were amazing, the food was delicious and we were lucky enough to see humpbacks and orcas.
Andrew the owner was super accommodating of all our needs and was so passionate and knowledgeable about the local wildlife and the local area, and we loved our guides who made the whole experience so smooth and fun.
Definitely book a family tour with Kingfisher if you want a unique experience with your kids that they'll always remember.

My trip with Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures was nothing short of extraordinary. The combination of expert guidance, intimate group size, and the stunning scenery of British Columbia made for an unforgettable experience. Each day brought new adventures and a deepened appreciation for the wilderness. Can't wait for my next adventure with them!

Myself and 5 friends just returned from an AMAZING 4-day base camp "Kayak with Whales" adventure. The adventure was sooo much more than kayaking with whales. We saw and heard lots of different marine and wild life (Orca and Humpback whales, Sea Lions, Seals, Eagles, Porpoises, Otters, Bear). and went for a special hike in the forest.
The Kingfisher team did a FANTASTIC job in hosting the trip right from my initial contact to the very end of the trip. The trip was very organized and well planned. No detail has been left out…they have it all covered!
Strict COVID protocol was followed and we felt COVID safe at all times. At no time did anyone feel unsafe on the water or on land.
Meals prepared by Chef Julien were delicious and plenty to eat at all times. Our professional and passionate guides Audrey and Dom were the best! They were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and added lots of fun, laughter and adventure to our trip.
All together the adventure was a truly magical and powerful experience.
I highly recommend going on a Kingfisher Wilderness adventure. I am planning on going on another one!

Great experience overall on the 4 day kayak with whales trip! Ample information offered in terms of preparing what to bring, how to get there, etc. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Food was tasty too. Only tip I would offer is to consider bringing your own pillow. Will definitely book another trip with Kingfisher!

It was fantastic! We highly recommend the kayak and grizzly tour. We started our vacation with Kingfisher in late August and this tour set the benchmark very high for the rest of our trip through Canada.

Camping on an island close to nature and wildlife was an exceptional experience. The guides made it even better by taking care of us on land and on water, sharing their knowledge with us. Not only did we watch whales, but we also met more marine life and learned about currents and flora. Many thanks to Audrey, Jess and Kayleigh.

Environmentally friendly, with high respect for wildlife, far from mass tourism. Kayaking for beginners and advanced. Nice mix of people and good group size.

The grizzly tour with Sea Wolf Adventures on the last day was a great way to end the tour. Sherry and Brandon shared their indigenous knowledge of the wildlife and islands with us. We watched orcas on the way to see the grizzly bears. Visiting the cultural center in Alert Bay and hearing personal stories was also a highlight! Thank you so much.

An incredible journey with our wonderful guides! Beautiful memories captured on land and water. Our guides were pros and 8 days on Haida Gwaii went by too fast, loved every moment 👍❤

OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE!!! Words cannot describe how amazing and magical our trip with Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures was. Our family of 5 spent 4 days kayaking in the Johnston Straight with King Fisher and we would HIGHLY recommend them. The trip was well organized, the staff were great, the site and tents we stayed in were top notch. The food was excellent, and the gear and kayaks were top of the line. We saw whales right from our campsite and were lucky enough to encounter Orca's out on the water. Andrew and his team really care and we count ourselves lucky to have spent a few days on the water with this knowledgable and professional group of people!

Did a trip in the summer of 2014 with Allie and Cody. It was a 3-day base camp trip and it was amazing! WE saw so much wildlife, and our group was only three people which meant that we had time to do some really wonderful kayaking instruction! The base camp was lovely, and felt a bit like "gl-amping," with comfortable sleeping arrangements and three well planned meals prepared each day. Educational opportunities abound and they were always approached with a sense of fun. The guides were awesome at gauging the group’s energy level when making decision about day paddle legs. Awesome adventure, and I want to go back for one of the more rugged trips someday!

The best tour we’ve done ever. This review is coming way too late. We actually did the tour in September 2017 and I still think about it all the time. We saw so many orcas, humpback whales, seals it was simply amazing. Also the Food at the Camp in Hanson Island was incredible. Beter than in some restaurants on our trip in BC. I highly recommend this company and I cannot wait to return back soon! 🙌

Absolutely great experience. Our guides were knowledgeable friendly and very experienced. The food was well thought out and tasty, they took my allergies and lactose intolerance into great consideration for every meal. They made a back country camping trip look as easy as going to the park - highly recommend to everyone considering.

Tausend Dank an euch!!!

Wir hatten 3 perfekte Kajaktage mit Kingfisher. Wir erlebten Luxus-Camping, tolles Essen und natürlich Orca, Buckelwale, Schweinswale, Weißkopfseeadler ...
Unsere Guides waren kompetent und hilfsbereit. Dieses Erlebnis kann ich jedem empfehlen!

We did the 4 day orca/grizzly bear tour. The Kayak portion was excellent but I did not like how the cabins were assigned. The guides say, “you figure it out between you” and this resulted in a competitive race to get the cabins. We were left with the tent closest to the kitchen (because we did not join the race) which meant that as a light sleeper, I did not sleep well and it impacted the enjoyment of the trip. Unless there was a change in this process (suggest that people draw numbers and get their choice accordingly), I would choose a different company. If they made a fairer process for tent selection then I would recommend Kingfisher. My advice to future groups is to determine your method for selecting cabins at your pre-trip meeting. For the grizzly tour, know that you cover a lot of ground on the boat and we did not see any grizzlies.
