Spent a lovely few hours here. Visited in the off season so the trolley bus and cable car weren't running and none of the historical buildings were open but we could peer through windows. Loved the Dump, atmospheric and creative way to tell its story. Everything looked lovely in the autumn colours and the historic buildings just blended in. We took the steps up to the top of the waterfall as the cable car wasn't running - well worth the effort for the stunning views up there. Also enjoyed views of the waterfall from lower down on the roof of the modern observation deck. We paid a reduced admission fee as nothing was open but it was a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable walk.

We went during the wintertime so we couldn't visit the classroom or see inside the buildings like the mill... we did take a lot of pictures... the falls were breathtaking

Regarding what people say, I think it's worth the price. It's a real experience within an "abandoned" city.
The different parts of the city come with nice people, great explanation written and visual, you learn a lot about the people who lived there and how was their life.

Price 33$ plus taxes ! Bises and câble are free to use after payment !
Coming here was really a blast from the last, exploring 1920 history of the village . The bus tour guide was really fun to ride having an Audio play in the background to explain the different locations and settlements of the complex or you can always walk and enjoy reading about the various history of the village ! The cab car was a fun and interesting ride with amazing views and it always has a nice 15-20mins walk down to see various parts of the forest and other angles of the waterfall.
Recommend it if you wanna nice day of exploring and reading and a few sight seeing on top of the waterfall. Total average for activity 3hours or less !!!

This is the order we did, sharing it here: hopped on the trolley car, and it would give you a guided tour around the village, and take you to the final destination, where the spectacle is (a wonderful animated historical film about the village), as well as the stop of the cable car, from which you would see the amazing views of Lac St Jean and local waterfalls. Then we grabbed a bite at the bistro just in the same building as the spectacle, and headed out to see the village. We walked on the La Dompe, which is a nice recycle garden path, then visited the old houses, general store, post office, canyon trail and look out, church, and then school. Had a super nice 5 hours here!

Brilliant and engaging historical site telling the story of the pulp industry in the area. Living history on site and a clever feature in the old pulp mill which tells the story of the site - it even snows indoors!! Beautiful grounds in which to wander, stunning nature walks and a fabulous waterfall and viewing platform. Visit Val Jalbert and you will not regret it - fantastic!

Absolutely loved this place! A must see when you are in the area. We went there without having any expectations but were blown away! The entrance fee is way worth it. The combination of nature including views on the lake, waterfalls and canyons was impressive. The history of the people involved in this village has been well honoured and was delivered in an exceptional and unusual way, including 360 experience, actors and interesting films. Do yourself a favour and visit this!

Extremely nice experience. We went by the end of August and it was slightly chilly, but the views and tour were awesome. Even better if you got kids with you, which we didn't. As a suggestion: the sound of the immersive experience is quite difficult to hear and could be improved. Also I'm fairly capable in French, but subtitles would help the less experienced with the accent!

It's an amazing place full of history!
Due to Covid Situation we decided to take the smaller paths in the woods as much as possible, making us live a really awesome experience (try the "Sentier des ecoliers" = the path of schooldchildren). However the situation is well handled there with markers on the ground and hand sanitizers.

The welcoming staff and guides are all role playing and have historical clothes that makes it even more immersive. Kudos to the real marmot that was having a break on an old ruined house!

There is a lot of information along the way, also do not hesitate to go on top of the waterfall (764 steps on solid wooden stairs and paths) because the view is amazing.
Usually you can go there by cable car but not during the pandemic.

Near the restaurant "Bistro du Moulin" you will find a modern structure in which you can go almost at the feets of the waterfall and it is very impressive too.

Finally it's a great place full of history (you are supposed to be able to enter differents old houses but depending to pandemic some of them are closed) and very child friendly.

An absolutely fascinating historical property to visit. I have done so twice with six years inbetween. The changes that have been wrought are remarkable and stand as an excellent testament of how to organize such sites. In my mind it is equivalent in this regard to Fortress Louisbourg in Cape Breton.

Readers can Google the historical value of this incredibly interesting place. Be prepared to spend half a day there to enjoy everything it has to offer.

This is a must-see stop in the Saguenay/Lac St. Jean region. The country store and the falls is worth the drive!

I fell in love with the hotel accommodations and I hear the restaurant is first class.

We were there on a very windy day but would have loved to spend more time there. No question about it. GO!

Visited this place with my elderly parents since it was one of the very few things we can do in the area (low mobility). Didn't have big expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's a cute little set up, but it's the surprising waterfall view that made it special. There were two viewpoints, one easily accessible by my elderly parents and the other about 700 steps (up and down stairs) which I did with my sister and boyfriend. This second viewpoint was worth it.

We scoped this place out a few years ago as we planned an eventual trip to Saguenay - Lac St Jean. It did not disappoint! A little on the pricey side though but we made the best of it. We thoroughly enjoyed our discovery, the waterfall and the 764 stair clim to the top!

This is one of my favorite places to come and visit when I'm in this area. The historic value and the state of preservation are astounding. There is easy access to the main site, a small tour trolley and a cable car to reach the top of the falls. The grounds are meticulously kept, and everything has been tastefully and accurately restored to present the very important and valuable asset to the region. Bring your whole family for a day, arrive early.
