Surf Sister Surf School

A truly joyful experience! The staff are super helpful and kind— they do everything they can to help you feel safe and comfortable while also providing a low-stress atmosphere to have fun and enjoy the experience — perfect for beginners! Call ahead or pop in to make sure they have sizing for you if you live happily in a bigger body— they were very open to let me try the wet suits out before committing— they have a pretty good range and hopefully are working to expand so even more people can enjoy their lovely offering! Definitely recommended for folks who may feel nervous or uncertain about an experience like this— they do everything they can to make it fun and easy!

Had an unreal group surf lesson from Surf Sister in beautiful Tofino. Izzy and Ash were incredible teachers for all levels of beginners. They were patient, kind and so much fun! I came to the lesson intimidated by the thought of surfing, and left the lesson so excited to do it again. Cannot recommend Surf Sister enough!

Booked a private lesson for our daughter who is 8 with Surf Sisters. Her instructor Hannah couldn’t have been nicer, more patient or amenable. Conditions on the day of the lesson weren’t good but they still did a partial lesson and made sure to get our daughter out the next day at McKenzie Beach for a safe, fun and memorable day. Great communication from Ava in the office and a friendly environment. Will definitely use Surf Sisters again when in Tofino.

Every stuff is super helpful and nice, our instructor is also very knowledgeable and helpful. Although we have to reschedule to next day due to not so good weather, this is overall an amazing surfing experience with Surf sister surf school.

Awesome lesson for my friend and I! We had Izzy as our instructor she was absolutely lovely and so knowledgeable! She met us where we were at with skills and was awesome company to spend the morning with! Everyone we dealt with was great! Loved the store, loved our lesson, leaving inspired by the company and excited for more surfing in the future! Will be recommending to everyone :)

Had such an incredible experience with Surf Sister Surf School! Our instructor Ava was very knowledgeable and fun! The beginner lesson was easy to understand. I can't wait to come back and bring all my friends! Such a perfect way to spend a day.

Had a wonderful time with surf sisters. The lessons lasted quite long and our instructor was very friendly and knowledgeable. The water is cold but the wetsuits keep you warm. I highly recommend giving it a try it is not that difficult to begin and is a lot of fun. My only complaint is it would be nice if they also provided wetsuit gloves to keep your hands warmer

Booked a surf lesson on a whim for a fun experience with some girlfriends and it turned out to be one of the funnest, most memorable experiences. We went in early March and I was concerned that we’d be FREEZING but the wetsuit and all provided gear made the experience so comfortable. Would highly recommend and ready to try again! Our teacher Carson was so patient and personable.

We were repeat customers of Surf Sister again this summer, my teenagers (15 and 17) loved their lesson so much last summer, they couldn’t wait to do it again.

This year they got Riley who was phenomenal, I have 2 very different kids (one cautious, one a tornado) and she was amazing with both. They both said they were impressed how knowledgeable she was and I felt like they were in excellent hands, safety wise.

She gave my daughter (the tornado) lots of useful tips and she spent the afternoon catching wave after wave. My son (cautious) was equally as included even though he is happy just belly boarding.

They both are already talking about next year and we all hope Riley is there to be their instructor again. Thanks for another incredible Tofino experience, Surf Sister!

I have had 2 lessons now with Surf Sister and both were amazing! We had Lindsay and Sarah as our instructors and both were very knowledgeable and hands on. They are so personable and funny. Sarah was very good at giving tips on how to improve and they both celebrated your little victories. When in the shop the other instructors were so friendly and genuinely cared about how your lessons went. Highly recommend them for anyone wanting to learn to surf! An experience I will never forget!

This is such an amazing place for lessons. Three years ago; we were eating dinner in Tofino and happened to meet the owners of Surf Sisters while dining. My kiddos were not old enough to attend that summer but my son went last year and learned so much. This year, my daughter and son did lessons. Both got up on the board. They had Rylie and she was absolutely amazing with them. They had so much fun and it was a great experience. We will for sure return next summer.

I treated my two nieces to a family surf lesson and it was a super fun experience for everyone (ages were 9, 13 and 60). Olivia, our instructor, did a great job of explaining surf basics and safety. Once we got onto the water she seemed as excited as we were when we caught some good waves. Definitely an experience we will all remember for a long time. Thank you, Olivia and Surf Sisters.

We just had a private lesson with skyler today. This is our second surfing class with her, the first one was a group class and we were so happy with her as the instructor that we requested her this time. She is amazing, patient, super encouraging and has a beautiful happy energy. She explained in detail and was very engaged and on top of everything. Our goal was to stand on the board and we were able to! She saw we were struggling and in the middle if the session change our strategy and that worked!

We were able to book an afternoon private lesson with Rachel. We had one adult and two children ages 8 and 10. She was FANTASTIC and so patient with our kids. We will definitely book again.

Had a fantastic first time surfing experience with instructors Cam and Brittany at Surf sisters! Great instruction, they worked well together to keep the group together with their eyes on each person for individual tips. I would highly recommend!

Elle was an amazing instructor! She made my wife Megan and I very comfortable and she was very encouraging. We were first timers, but Elle got us both standing in no time. Thanks again!

I signed my 7 and 9 year old girls up for a private lesson with Tory and she was amazing with them! She knew how to emphasize the importance of ocean safety while also making it super fun for them. We’ll be back for more lessons with Tory.

Great experience with Skylar (surf sisters). Private session, adaptive lesson to keep the attention of my 7 year old. Coach mermaid and junior mermaid had a blast surfing and playing in the ocean.

Hannah at Surf Sisters (Pacific Sands) was super friendly, patient and full of knowledgeable information regarding the current surf conditions and the safest places to be. We spent time boogie boarding at both Cox Bay and Mackenzie Beach. We had a ton of fun and will be sure to see you again next time we come to visit!!

Freaking amazing! Would recommend this place to anyone looking to learn how to surf for the very first time or just to have fun. My mom and I walked into the shop Saturday at noon looking for a lesson for Sunday morning, ended up on the beach by 1pm the same day learning to Surf with India. She was an incredible instructor and we had so much fun!
