Farmstay Forest Inn

I spent two days on Andrei Burdenkov's castle tour and farmstay in July. The Mir castle is actually on the way to his farmhouse. Make sure you walk through the village across the road from the castle, there are small farms and both old and new houses. At Andrei's comfortable farmhouse you will find peace and quiet and a forest with many songbirds. Around the edges are fields of wheat to the horizon. Andrei is an experienced host and interesting companion, as well as a neighbor to the local woodcutters.

Totally enjoyed a 1 night stay in this cosy and quiet farmhouse complete with in-room heating and private modern toilet. Loved the homemade toasted bread (breakfast) and the walk in the woods.

Great new place where I enjoyed a day out of the city. Walked in the woods, drank tea with honey, talked with very charming owner and feel much better now. Ready for new working week.

Wir als Paar reisten relativ spontan nach Weissrussland und wollten vorallem etwas über Land und Leute erfahren und erleben. Unser Wunsch war es, die Natur zu sehen, Kontakt zur Bevölkerung zu bekommen und typisch belarusische Dörfer zu sehen. Nach etwas recherchieren stiessen wir auf die Webseite von Andrei. Andrei spricht ausgezeichnetes Englisch und weiss praktisch alles über das Land. Mit ihm haben wir eine private zweitägige Tour organisiert. Wir fuhren mit seinem blauen Mini-Van in sein rund 70km entferntes Forest-Inn (eine kleine Holzhütte im Wald nahe eines kleinen Dorfes). Andrei hat an das meiste gedacht (Wasser, Mückenspray, Essen etc.). Die Ausstattung der Hütte ist ziemlich rudimentär (Holzbetten, Plumpsklo, kein Bad - dafür Grundwasserbrunnen für Katzenwäsche).Dies hat uns jedoch nicht gross gestört, da man ja aufs Land fährt um die Natur zu sehen und nicht, um in einem Luxushotel zu übernachten.
Fazit: Die beste Art, einen Eindruck von der Natur, Landschaft und Bevölkerung von Belarus zu erhalten. Andrei erzählte davon, dass er die Ausstattung der Hütte verbessern wolle. Am besten persönlich nachfragen. Die Tour war sehr bereichernd und interessant. Empfehle diese Art Tour aber nur Leuten, welche wirklich interessiert sind und auch bereit sind gewisse Komfort-Einbussen der Unterkunft in Kauf zu nehmen.

Rustic cabin in a beautiful forest setting. The bedroom is comfortable.
As of the time of this writing, there is electricity but no plumbing. There is an outhouse nearby and well water for washing. Cooking largely takes place via a campfire next to the cabin. The experience is a bit like camping, but with a cabin and bedding. Note that this is not a farm - no animals or crops. However, there were many farms nearby.
