From start to finish the staff were great. The reception at the tour office in lap Paz are really helpful to the point of flagging down a taxi for me when I finished. The guides were great paced and organised the trip by ability which is really helpful. It is inevitable the some will not make it but they try there hardest to ensure everyone is successful. Really happy I went with South Treks.

The only suggestion I would make is that the waterproof clothing is updated. We were really unlucky on the second day and we did the hike in a thunder storm with very heavy rain. Our jackets did not keep all the rain out. Also it would be worth offering dry bags to put clothes and sleeping bags in as an optional extra should the customers look up the weather.

A great experience with a fantastic company. It’s a hard climb to the top but the guides at South Treks really look after and encourage you to make it. It was very well organised and good equipment provided. There is plenty of food at each camp and lots of coca tea to help with the altitude sickness. The office staff were very friendly and helpful too. If you’re looking for a challenging but rewarding hike, I’d recommend going with this company, it’s well worth it!

We booked the 3D/2N Huayna Potosí climb at Southtreks and had one of the best times in our life! We have a lot of experience with hiking and trekking but had never climbed a high summit like this before. The summit day was probably the physically most demanding thing of my life so don't underestimate this mountain! However, I think most people can do it if they have good physical condition and a strong will. There are only one or two very short technical sections which are not a problem at all because the guides will help you.

The altitude is the biggest challenge so acclimatisation is the key. If you have time you should choose the 3-day trip. In the city they say that the rate of successful summits is 90% in case of the 3-day and 40% of the 2-day version. This is because your body has more time to adjust to the high altitude. But you still will need some acclimatisation hikes before you start. You won't make it if you arrive to La Paz a few days before from sea level.

This mountain is perfect if you ever dreamed of trying mountaineering but don't have experience and don't know where and how to start. The feeling on the top is undescribable. It is something you have to experience once if you like mountains. After you get down again, you will probably be addicted and want to climb more mountains.

The company is very professional. Everything went very well, the equipment, the transport, the accommodation, the food, etc. But the most important and the best thing about this trip was our guide, Javier. He is the best guide I can imagine. I would climb any mountain in the Andes with him without doubt. He is an extremely professional and very well experienced mountain climber. He will support you every moment, not only technically but also mentally. He will bring you to the top and down again safely. He is always calm and pays maximum attention to you every time. He loves the mountains and his job and never gets bored. He explains everything so you will learn a lot about mountains and climbing if you are interested. Without him I wouldn't have made it to the summit because I have some fear of heights. But he helped me to overcome it, from which I will profit in the future as well. He will also take amazing photos of you with your mobile phone so you can concentrate on the hike and enjoy it without worrying.

I did Huayna Potosí with them and without my guide I wouldn't have made it to the top! Since I stepped in the office, I was welcomed with smiles and detailed information. I trusted them immediately and the prices where super fair.

I did both the ascent to Huayna Potosí and the 3 days tour of the Uyuni salt flats. Everything was smooth and went as promised. I would go back with them anytime and I will definitely do more hikes with them in the future! Strongly recommend this company!

Good information about Huayna Potosí hike and everything was there what was promised. All equipment was good. The personal guide, Theo, for the two of us was very experienced and guided us to the top. Without him it would not have worked. We even booked our trip to Uyuni with them afterwards.

- 1 day Huanca Potosi : good guide, clear explanations, good gear, lots of fun and a good day
- 3 days Las Pampas (by Rurrenabaque). Very well organised (better than others agencies after speaking with others tourists), very helpful and available for any need or question before or during the expedition. Everything went well and the experience was very good. Very good value for money and nice staff !

We did the Huayna Potosi trek with this agency and it was great. I was a bit afraid in some of the sections of the trek but our guide Felix was super patient, caring and reassured me so I could complete the trek with no problem. Thank you, papa Felix!

We did the 1 day Pico Austria hike on 20th January 2024. We had a fantastic experience! Jennifer in the office was extremely friendly and helpful and communication was good. Our guide on the day was great - friendly and knowledgeable. He was in frequent communication with the van driver (parked at the bottom) via radio letting him know what time we reached the peak, whah route we were taking down etc which was reassuring Forman safety perspective. He was also frequently checking how we were managing with the altitude which was great. The hike itself was amazing, one of the best I have ever done. Would highly recommend!

Great local tour company. We shopped around and went back to Southtreks because of Will. He was genuine and took the time to explain all the different tours to us. He even asked how long we've been in high altitude before booking us in to Hyuana Potosi. Their prices were better than most for doing the exact same thing. Some of the other companies we saw had some branded gear but we didn't care for it. The 3 days 2 nights at Hyuana Potosi were great. The guides were informative and really cared about our safety. Everyone in our group made it to the summit and everyone said the same thing, it's because of the guides. They were really encouraging and worked with your pace, our guide Eeerie was amazing. The food is very minimal, I'd recommend bringing your own snacks as well. Other than highly recommend this company!

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day hike/journey up Huayna Potosí with our guide Ramiro Ramirez. It is really hard and we hiked it in bad weather but we appreciate the skill and guidance of Ramiro. The altitude is no joke. The easiest 6000+m peak is definitely not easy. But if you are thinking about doing it give these guys a call or stop by their office and talk to them.

The gear they gave us was great as well.

I did the 3 days Huayna Potosi, great experience, thanks to my guide Felix, he is amazing. And South treks has the highest high camp in the mountain. And this is a big + believe me.

Look no further, this is the agency to book with! We booked both the Death Road and 3-day Uyuni trip with this agency. The night before doing the Death Road my girlfriend got sick and we had to postpone the trip, and the day before the Uyuni-trip I god sick and we had to postpone. In both cases, South Treks were very flexible, and let us postpone without any problems and no extra charge. It’s always irritating being sick on vacation, but this agency really saved our Bolivia experience. In addition, both tours were great, and professionally executed from start to end. I can especially recommend the Uyuni trip, which was an “out of this world”-experience.

Had a great experience with South Treks! William had excellent knowledge when helping us plan our trek, sorting out the transport, routes and logistics, even though we weren't procuring a guide. We coordinated to end our 6-day trek through the Real region at Huayna Potosi, met South Treks guide Javier (who was great!), and did the 3 day climb!

Yesterday I came back from the Potosi trek and I was so tired that I didn't notice that my treking poles are missing. I only realized today, went to Southtrek and asked William (the owner) if they got my treking poles by any chance. He seyed yes and handed me my poles back.

I did an individual six day combination package consisting of Pico Austria, pequeño Alpamayo and Huyana Potosí and had an incredible experience! From the whole organisation to the equipment and being out there with my guide Javier everything worked perfectly. The whole team with driver, guide and organization is super friendly and supports your ideas to a really fair price. Food is excellent, even as a vegetarian and I never felt unsafe even on the high peaks without a lot of previous experience! On more common routes like Huyana Potosí you even get the higher camp, which gives you a little advantage over other groups.
Can highly recommend this crew!

I just finished 2 days tour in Huayana Potosi. My experience was amazing, we were only 2 of us in the group led by very friendly guide Irri (I am not sure if I spell correctly). He was super helpful and just a guide that you want. All the equipment was good, camp place was really nice. Maybe I would change the food, I don’t think fried food is good for hiking but it is just a small recommendation. Overall my experience was amazing, I value even more that I booked the tour the same day as it started and there was no problem. Everyone was very helpful.

Great tour operator! First we did the El Choro track. It is recommended to do it in 3 days, but for the fanatics 2 is also possible. Charlie and Hermesiño were the two guides who helped the 4 of us on this beautiful track through the Yungas. Because of them we even saw monkeys.

In addition, we did the Huayna Potosi. You can do it in 2 or 3 days but we recommend 3 days in order to get used to the altitude. The first days we did ice climbing and some rest on 4900m height. The second day we went to high camp on 5300m and the last day we reached the peak! Gonzalo was our amazing guide. He was a really experienced guide who prepared us the perfect way. Also during the last day he made sure we felt allright and we had the perfect speed to get to the top. In our group also the other guides were really helpful and everybody made it to the top. Price-quality wise this agency is really good and they offer good food, a real recommendation.

Amazing experience with South Treks!!! First mountain with the company was Huayna Potosi in the 3 days and Ramírez as a guide! We had such an fantastic time together and I felt really safe with him! I have a lot of mountain experience in the Alps but this time was different and Ramirez gave me all the time the feeling that he knows for 100% what he is doing! After we came back I planned with him another tour to the Pequeño Alpamayo. This mountain is more difficult and you need good experience on glaciers and in ice climbing. Same feeling with him, always safe and we had a lot of fun together but the weather was really bad...Always great and enough food. The equipment is in a good condition and everything gets checked twice before you leave to a tour. Fair prices,great tours, great guides, all in all top!!! Go with South Treks!

We took the one day Condoriri trek tour and ascended Austria Peak. William, who we booked the tour with, was a positive and genuine guy. He was very honest about the details of the tour and helped us decide on the tour that was good for us although it ended up being the cheaper and shorter option. Our trip ended up being private because of cancelations and he did not cancel or charge us extra for it. Our guide and driver, Roberto, was very friendly, helpful and attentive to our pace and needs during this difficult ascent. Overall, we had a great experience with this agency from the start.

Great friendly and flexible staff, they all know very well their job and can answer all your questions (which is not the case of many other agencies in the same Sagarnada street).
