Samouil's fortress

A very interesting historical place to visit if you're in Petrich region. Construction resembling a watch tower at the top offers a great panorama view of the hills around. There's also a museum telling the story of king Samuil and his achievements, as well as two models of underground homes. Don't expect anything wow. Has small entrance fee and cute little shop.

A bit rusty...interactive devices don't work. But you can touch a part of Bulgarian history.

I've visited in the winter and all the exhibitions were closed. Nevertheless, it was amazing to just wander around the landscape covered in snow. Amazing views.

Great monument and historical place. A must visit if you are in that region. The history of this place is dating from 1014 year and is quite interezting. It can be found in multiple places around the complex and in the museum itself. Be sure to go up the hill so you can see the watchtower. The entrance fee is 1 euro which is quite low, even ridiculous and the monument is 1 of the top 100 historical places in Bulgaria. The road leading to the fortress is good but you have a 10 minute walk once you park your car untill you get to the entrance. You can buy a combined ticket for 3 places in the are of the city of Petrych but the Samuil's fortress is the best as per my understanding.

Ancient fortress of Tzar Samuil. Not much left of the fortress itself, but the surrounding is beautiful. Nice alleys to walk around also with friends, family and small children

I love the park right before the bridge, there's a sparling river, almost historical trees and calm atmosphere

A really important place, also great nature and wonderful views.

The fortress itself is not very interesting, but the views are splendid. The history behind the fortress is also very interesting. There is also a very nice area besides the river with a lot of century old trees.

Remarkable site... restored and noted... only not airr conditioner in the rooms... but it is worth toswear as in sauna and to see the notes and hologramsp

Great historical place

A historical place for Bulgaria. It is like a park so you can take your kids with you. It is a nice place to visit if you are into history and archeology. Other places to visit nearby include Rupite, the town of Petrich (the house of Vanga) and the town of Sandanski (it has a nice archeology museum). It is also included in the 100 national tourist attractions in Bulgaria.

A lovely place of history worth visiting. Sadly it is not as active as it used to be and there are no guides, but pick your device and you will find all you need in the internet about what is seen and what has been there...
