Lopushanski monastery "St. Yoan Predtecha"

Buildings are well maintained. Yard is clean and trees are kept well. Icons are good ones and wood carving is great. It is historical place and visiting it is a must.

The Lopushna Monastery of Saint John the Forerunner is a Bulgarian Orthodox monastery in the northwestern part of Bulgaria. It is near the village of Georgi Damyanovo, Montana Province. The monastery was built in the Middle Ages but in nowadays appearance throughout the 1850s, when Archimandrite Dionysius engaged with the restoration of the holy monastery. He invested his inheritance entirely in the new undertakingThe complex has church, are one of the most notable works of the Slavine Architectural School and its most prominent figure, Lilo Lazarov. The monastery was one of the favorite places of the Bulgarian writer Ivan Vazov (1850 – 1921), who had written one of the chapters of Under the Yoke on this exact place.
