Westmalle Brewery

Beautiful area to stroll through nature. Highly recommended for families. The restaurant is across the main road where the Trappist Beers and Cheese are available to the public

As a drinker of Westmalle beer, I wanted to visit this beautiful monastery during my tour of Belgium. Got there just a bit too late to purchase their goods from the front gate, however, taking the serene walk around the property while the tower bell rung was something I will never forget. Just perfect.
Visiting the cafe across the street for a glass of their Trippel and the cheese cubes was lovely.

We looovveee strolling around the abbey/monastery...so tranquil along the trees and as bonus you will also get the barley smell when they busy making the beer :D You can also buy cheese and some grooms products inside the abbey that is made by the monks. You just need to ring the bell and come inside the front abbey for purchasing those products. The monk himself will assist you, how cool is that! We love the cheese!! You can see the beautiful monastery as you came in to purchase the products, but that is the fartest you can go inside as the rest is only allow for the residents. We always come back to this place whenever we visit our parents in Westmalle, which is 5 mins away from their home. If you wish to enjoy the beer, you need to visit the Trappiste Cafe, which is just across the road of the monastery, 1 min drive by car.

A treat to be allowed to visit the brewery…!

Very beautiful surroundings. But the abbey is not open for visits. The only place available to visit is a cafe in 300 m with beers and local food.

Enjoying a Dubbel in Osaka, Japan at this very moment and it is the highlight of my day :) I’ve always preferred brown ales and find the thickness and complex aroma of Trappist Dubbels particularly satisfying. I amuse myself literally tracing every sip I take in for minutes on end as the various flavors expand and trigger my tastebuds while gravity slowly pulls down on the warm glow of the alcohol component, a three dimensional pleasure like few others and often the gateway to some introspection or other deep thinking. Keep on your best and highest shelf, far away from the stuff that gets chugged 😄 This elixir is to be savored slowly and enjoyed like fine art, for masterpieces Trappist beers are ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I propose an overdue toast to the entrepreneurs around the world who make the international beer market possible and to the many enthusiasts who support them through their sustained custom. Beautiful surroundings. Not always possible to visit the Brewery and the monastery. There is a small shop. The Triple is an amazing beer. Great balance between alcohol sugar malt and hops. Dubbel is a little hoppy and less alcohol .... great 'uit het vat'. Extra is nice too.
This is BE beer tradition at its best.

A cervejaria não está aberta para visitação, então o que se pode fazer é dar uma olhada por fora e conhecer um pouco o lugar onde se produz uma das melhores tripel do mundo. Depois, é só atravessar a estrada para degustar as cervejas produzidas ali no Café Trappisten.

What you see is what you get....

De Brouwerij zelf is niet mogelijk te bezichtigen , maar tegenover is het café Trappisten en daar hebben ze lekker bier en andere locale producten die door de monniken en nonnen worden gemaakt. Rondom de Abdij is een leuke wandelroute van 7-8 km. De startpunt is bij het café en vandaar verder zijn de knooppunten goed aangegeven.

Top bier de moeite om te bezoeken mooi locatie
