This railway was constructed from Bangabandhu Bridge east to Dhaka and North Bengal to Tarakandi Railway Station in Sarishabari at a cost of about Tk 250 crores to develop direct rail communication for the people of greater Mymensingh region. which was inaugurated by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 30th June 2012. Bhuyapur Railway Station was built as the station of this new railway.
