Lokayan Life Diversity Museum

An incredibly beautiful place. Everything is arranged like a picture. Historical items are in the museum. I am impressed If there is a chance to come again, I will definitely come.

It’s on of the place you must visit if you are traveling to Thakurgoan. It’s a nice place with lots of historical things. Will able to learn about traditional, historical and cultural stuff . We enjoyed it .

Bangladesh, situated on the world's largest delta, was once home to over a thousand rivers. But due to years of neglect, pollution and encroachment caused by various anthropogenic activities, the majority of these rivers have now vanished.

As a consequence, the riverine region's ecological equilibrium has shifted dramatically, as observed by the recurrence of natural disasters brought about by climate change.

It is now more important than ever to raise awareness about the importance of preserving rivers in Bangladesh in order to maintain a stable ecological equilibrium.

To this end, the Lokayan Life Diversity Museum in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila has been playing its part since the inauguration of its "Nadi Gallery" (river gallery) in 2016.

The museum, established in 2006 by the Eco-Social Development Organisation (Esdo), preserves water from most of the country's rivers at this gallery to educate its visitors.

In addition to displaying the water in bottles, the gallery also features photos, documentaries, poetry and literary works about rivers in order to raise public awareness about river conservation.

It has had a healthy response from people across the country. The museum hosts about 100-150 visitors every day, with the number increasing during holidays and vacations, according to museum officials.

Lokayan Museum is a tremendous initiative of Eco Social Development Organisation (ESDO), a Renowned Non Government Organisation of Thakurgaon. There are six different Gallery’s where a lot of local uncommon and distinguished products are available. The natural beauty of this Museum is mesmerising. Different types of programme are arranged in different times here.

লোকায়ন যাদুঘর। Traditional museum of bengali people. So lovely. If you want to know the bengali traditions, you have to come here. This is really a different types of museum which is such an incredible museum here in Thankurgaon sadar upzila in Thankurgaon district of Rangpur division of Bangladesh. From my point of view, it is a memorable museum for bangali people. And I hope it will be an interesting, memorable, historical museum for the foreigners. Everyone of our country people should visit this museum.

This Local Lifediversity Museum has been built in the natural environment of East Akcha village of Akcha Union, 4 km north of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. Crossing a small beautiful sakho one can see directon of different gallery: the River Gallery, Regional Language Gallery, Plains Minorities Gallery, Music Gallery, Trinamool Folk Gallery, Rabindra Manch, Apang Cottage, Liberation War Gallery and many more which are kept for exhibition. There's also an opportunity to learn a lot while watching this museum.

A place full of historical interests

Lovely place

Bangladesh is known as an ancient dwelling. Countless memories of hard-earned community's striving and heritage are evident at each and every segment of this ancient habitation. From generation after generation, farmers, earthenware makers, smiths, potters, fishermen, local lyricists and ethnic groups are the driving force of this ancient folk. The northern part of Bangladesh is enlightened with the immense contribution of their production, life-style, entertainment and folklore heritage. In a conventional sense, the museum is meant for archiving evidence of work and life style of kingdom of different generations and centuries, but heritage built on real life struggle of working segment remains overlooked very often. The Lokayan Life Diversity Museum has been set up through reminiscing ignored heritage built generation after generation, challenging the more traditional outlook of society. The museum, established by the Eco Social Development Organization - ESDO, is located at the Akcha village near Thakurgoan.

A new and well made museum in Thakurgaon. It has got some really good collection of historical things. The environment is also great here as it is located a little far from the busy city. I personally loved this place and I'll recommend everyone to check this place out.
