Beautifully reconstructed mosque that has been completely demolished in the war. It was one of the oldest mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina listed on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage.

One of the most significant mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also one of the most beautiful ones. Colorful as her name "Aladža" says. I loved the decoration on the walls, makes you feel like you are in some other century and place. Must see when visiting eastern BiH. Easy to find and open all day.

One of the most Beautiful Mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina! Situated across the ćehotina River in Foča, every other Mosque that would been built in Bosnia would have been relyed on the Aladza Mosque in Foca.
The Interior Absolutely reflects the Mosque name "Colorful Mosque"!
Would recommend 1# Destination in Foča if Visiting!

It is built during Ottoman empire. One of the most beautiful mosque in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is rebuilt after it had been destroyed during agression in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It deserves to be visited. There you can enjoy praying to God and watching an excellent architectural designed building in exterior and interior of the mosqua.

The mosque was destroyed in the period of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992-1996) during the aggression of Serbia and Montenegro. The mosque was a masterpiece of Ottoman classical architecture as we can see on this old photo, and was illuminated with great arabesques.

The mosque will be restored in its original using the original remains. Reconstruction will be monitored by experts. Behind the entire project is the Islamic Community of BiH. The begining of the reconstruction of the mosque is funded by the U.S. Ambassador Fund in the amount of $ 98,000.

The will of the the people prevailed and it rose from the ashes again.

I only hope at least some people of Foca will start returning from exile. Otherwise theese mosques will stay empty.

Foča is a town and municipality of south-eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the Republika Srpska entity on the banks of Drina river. As of 2013, the town has a population of 12,234 inhabitants, while the municipality has 18,288 inhabitants. Foča houses some faculties from the Istočno Sarajevo University. source
